Maybe I've got this all wrong, but I think this is about being in some kind of relationship which is mostly based on sex. Throughout the song she tries to defend her behavour by saing "Well, I do for the joy it brings".. But then: "i wonder if everything i do i do instead of something i want to do more the question fills my head" - This could maybe refer to her deepest feelings and wishes.. Maybe she really wants more than this, but doesn't feel worthy or ready etc. etc. But I dunno.. This doesn't really match "and we owe each other the world. i do it because it's the least i can do. i do it because i learned it from you" .. So yea. Not sure about this one at all. |

To me it's about trying to get happy by looking outside yourself, as Alanis has often expressed that she has done in her past. But being famous, being "cultured" and all these things didn't help at all. She has tried appearing very masculine and independant, but it didn't make things easier for her, 'cause she still had a lot of issues.. I love this song! |

I think you're all handling this the wrong way.. I see the points about possessive (obsessive) behaviour in a relationship as well as I understand username2004's arguments for drug addiction.. But the phrase "It's about..." does not belong when you discuss and analyze music (or any other sort of art) ! It might have been written with a special thought in mind, but that doesn't mean that THAT'S what the song is about. Everyone looks different at song, and I'm sure, that if I were addicted to drugs of any kind, I would see that right away.. But the fact is - I'm not. So all I see in this text is love.. And (I haven't read all comments, I must admit) I think it's important to notice these lines: "Oh how quiet, quiet the world can be When its just you and little me Everything is clear and everything is new So you won't be leaving Will you?" Though the love is so extreme and obsessive she still expresses that she's not a complete wierdo, but just a little girl who's afraid of losing her loved one.. I can relate :) |

Well.. For me this song is very, very special.. A painfull reminder of my past.. I was very much in love with this guy.. And he told me, that he felt the same about me.. And I believed him. - "I let myself fall into a lie" And when things started to go wrong, I just pretented to be ok with it.. That he didn't mean that much to me at all.. But inside I was hurting. - "I let myself smile and feel alive I let my walls come down." And no matter what I did.. I fell deeper into my depression, and everytime I thought of him, I felt like something was dying inside of me.. I've never felt so bad, as I did at that time.. - "You wrapped your hands tight around my heart and squeezed it full of pain." And, well.. I began hurting myself to get rid of the pain inside.. - "With this knife i'll cut out the part of me The part that cares for you. With this knife i'll cut out the heart of me The heart that cares for you." So for me, the chorus is about self-injury.. Because I used to think, that doing this would help me get rid of all the pain, I kept inside.. And once and for all, make this guy dissapear, so he would no longer haunt my mind with bad memories.. And now that I've come trough, and no longer think of him that often, it seems crazy, that I could feel so bad about it.. He wasn't even worth it.. - "I can't believe the way you took me down" ... ... I love this song. It's a great song.. And, yeah.. I really feel it deep inside of me.. Because it holds all these memories.. |

The song is about thinking positive about things, that often bring us down.. 'Cause when all comes to all, you learn from your mistakes, so it's not really that bad at all.. I really like this song.. It has helped me before, when I was feeling depressed.. It's absolutely great. |

A great song.. Some of the things she writes in her letters, are very much alike some things I would like to say to a person, who used to mean the world to me, although he wasn't worth it. I know that now, but it's still hard to let go.. "I liked you too much. I used to be attracted to boys, who would lie to me." "The long distance thing was the hardest, and we did as well as we could. We were together during a very tumultuous time in our lives. I will always have your back and be curious about you and your career, your whereabouts." - These are linies I easily can relate to.. As sad, as they may seem.. Hmn.. :/ |

I agree with DyingNovae .. I used to think, that the song was about this little picture-perfect girl, who everyone adored. But inside she was nothing. And yes, it IS about that, but it's more about not feeling good enough, and people thinking, that you're perfect, when you're really not. It's about Amy Lee herself, and that, you can also see in the video. A cool song :) |

It's a great song. I love the voice of the frontman from Seether.. It's absolutely beautiful.. And when you enjoy listening to Evanescence, like I do, you almost HAVE TO love this song.. The song is just as good without Amy Lee, but she certainly doesn't make it any worse. Beautiful. Beautiful. |

This song takes you back to "Break The Cycle".. Aaron once again describes the pain, he has to go through.. And even now, when he's beginning to feel better, there's still something left inside of him. A memory, of what has been. And when you know of the things, he has been trough, you can easily understand, that it's not just something, that gets better over night. It takes time. He's showing us inside himself. Telling us the things, that kind of makes him think, that he's worthless. He knows, that he hurts his wife, or close friend, (I don't know, who he had in mind, when he wrote the song, but it's obvious, that the person is very close to him) with the things he say and do, but it's kind of a pattern, he can't break lose from, although he wish, he could. But.. I think he's going in the right direction. The song "So Far Away" describes, that he's getting better.. But still.. As he says here; "It's not easy living in his mind".. |

My favourite Metallica song at the moment.. It's.. Amazing. Both song and video is a piece of art. As other people has written, James wrote this song, when his father died (or so I have heard). It's a very emotionel song, and you can easily feel the pain, James felt at the time.. Besides from his father dying, his alchohol abuse was also very bad at the time, so of cause he went through a lot of s**t at that time.. I really love this song.. And I just can't wait to see the 'Tallica boys.. Only five days to go.. :D - By the way.. I'm from Denmark, so my english spelling isn't that good. Hope the above made scence. ;) |
