Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics

The lyrics of this song appear to be "borrowed from" or inspired by the Beatles' Across the Universe. Compare the lyrics and see, especially the exact words "inciting and inviting." Anyone know anything about the connection? |

The Beatles – Across the Universe Lyrics

I was wondering about the connection between this song's lyrics and the lyrics of pink floyd's echoes. Since echoes was released a year later I assume the Beatles were the ones getting borrowed from. Does anyone know the story behind this? |

Yes – Leave It Lyrics

No one's commented on this? This is a great song, my favorite on 90125 other than owner of a lonely heart. And it has that really dated music video with cheap video effects being applied to a photo of the band. |

Aphex Twin – Come to Daddy Lyrics

This song really was meant to be a parody, and it's ironic that it became one of his more popular songs. It's making fun of "disturbing" but unintelligent music. Like other people here I heard that he was specifically targeting Prodigy, but I'm not familiar enough with what they sound like to tell if that's true. |

Pink Floyd – Astronomy Domine Lyrics

craigus's corrected lyrics are way better than the ones originally posted, but isn't the ending "the sound surrounds the icy waters underground" as in the orignal posting? That's what I hear in the song, anyway. |

Queen – Stone Cold Crazy Lyrics

The original Queen version is about a crazy guy pretending he's a gangster, but Metallica's version get rid of the fun aspect of the song and makes it about an acual violent situation. |

Xiu Xiu – Support Our Troops OH! (Black Angels OH!) Lyrics

I have to say that a high school style rant about jocks is really out of place in a serious antiwar song. It's as though he considers being a jock to be a tragedy on par with the grisly death of the four year old he describes. Whatever magazine you read that called it a childish thing to say: i agree. |

Jumpy Jack, if this song is so bad, why are you wasting your time on it by seeking out its lyrics and trolling like crazy? |

Deerhoof – Apple Bomb Lyrics

in addition to all the stuff TeN read into it, the "final tree" refers to a virtually extinct species of African tree (Encephalartos Woodii). There's only one known example of it still alive, and it cannot reproduce (hence the lines about cloning). That isn't made clear in the song at all, but it's mentioned in the CD insert. Google the species name for more info. |

Interpol – Evil Lyrics

it's hard to tell what he's saying at times, but these lyrics are definitely a little off. for example, it's, "your pleasure's set upon slow release," rather than "relief." |

The Damned – Plan 9 Channel 7 Lyrics

to clarify, it's about the woman who played the lead role in "plan 9 from outerspace" -- widely considered to be the worst movie ever made -- and who went on to attempt a more serious career on channel 7 as some sort of television personality. |

the webcomic "boatface" features an episode titled "i'm frickin awesome," which is just a character from the comic saying the lyrics while the song plays in the background. search for "boatface" on google to see it. |

Deerhoof – Holy Night Fever Lyrics

it's a little hard to distinguish when sung, but the lyrics as written in the cd insert are actually "when the feeling _isn't_ right." maybe a little pedantic, but it adds an ironic twist. |

Pink Floyd – Us and Them Lyrics
|
This song is not only about warfare -- it's about the cause of it, ie class struggles (it's rather marxist): "with, without, and who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about?" It's about the tendency of people to cause suffering for the sake of their own greed and personal advancement, and how this gets humanity nowhere. |

Deerhoof – This Magnificent Bird Will Rise Lyrics

Since there were literally zero places online to find deerhoof lyrics at the time of this writing, and since deerhoof is my favorite current band, I thought I'd help the world out by putting up some of their songs. (Perhaps I'll add more at some point?) Until then, definitely check them out -- experimental pop/rock/sometimes noise, with a cute little girl from Japan on vocals. |

At the Gates – Slaughter Of The Soul Lyrics

This song and most of the others on the album for which it is the title track are about the destruction of traditional ways of thinking, and freeing one's mind in general. (Not in the hippy sense, of course.) |
