Michael Jackson – In the Closet Lyrics 20 years ago
Has he admitted that the guest vocal on this is the Princess? I always thought it was Debbie Rowe; at points in the song he seems to say 'Debbie' (Dare me) He says it in 'Scream' aswell.

Björk – Unravel Lyrics 20 years ago
Probably the most romantic lyrics I've heard, though I would never direct them at anyone; they're too special!! BjorkySpearzer, you are totally right with that description.

Björk – Joga Lyrics 20 years ago
Id never heard about the best friend thing. I thought it was a celebration of Iceland's geographical/emotional landscape (one in the same to her I think), like the beauty in its force; delicacy and destruction. Its the typical Bjork thing of embracing contradiction as beauty. I think these comments are more relevant to the video than the song now I think about it, but sound and visuals bleed into one with Bjork, so its all good.

Björk – Foot Soldier Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is so overlooked! But thats a good thing :) Anyone else feel that the Vespertine B-Sides are better than some the tracks that made it onto the album? I love the imagery in this song, and the sense of cohesion between what the instruments and the vocals are doing. 'Conquer the darkness...' Oooh it gives me shivers! Its kind of the same idea as 'Cover Me' or 'Enjoy' from 'Post'; progression and exploration through sound. Its what she does best.

Björk – Big Time Sensuality Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is genius! It's just a straightforward celebration of the opposing elements within, and the vitality and passion of acknowledging and exploring them in harmony. Sense made? It's about the joy of embracing that you are both man and woman, darkness and light, hardcore and gentle. So refreshing, this girl really enjoys hunting for mysteries.

Madonna – What It Feels Like For A Girl Lyrics 20 years ago
I reckon this song is, aswell as being a straight forward celebration of femininity, about teenage pregnancy, and all the emotions it brings on. I could have got this completely wrong, its just a thought.

Michael Jackson – Superfly Sister Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is Michael's opinion on young people's views on sex, like the kids that he talks to and stuff. It's difficult to write that without it sounding seedy, but I think its a serious message, paedo issues aside. I also think its about the trauma he feels his brother's less than private sex lives caused him when he was in the J5, hearing them screw groupies in the same room and stuff. I think that really messed him up and he's talking about it here; 'Holy Mary, mercy me. Can't believe the things I see...Brothers, they don't give a damn...'

Michael Jackson – Black or White Lyrics 20 years ago
Well, I think the primary intent of the lyrics of this song are to cause controversy and promote debate about Michael, who was really getting weird and fascinating at the time of its release; an act of self-promotion. But as with Michael, there is always a subtext to the lyrics that are relevant to his psychology if you know what I mean, and I think the song is really about desperately wanting a child, and saying I don't care if it's black or white. It isn't about him, its about his potential children. This is something I always suspected, and the whole Martin Bashir thing kind of confirmed it to me. 'Blankets mother is black.' Yeh, OK Michael... Still think he's the media genius of our age though. Total respect.
