Calling Radiohead Soft Rock is like calling Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata soft symphony. It just doesn't apply, andthe artistic worth of a piece is most definetly not determined by the amount of ear shattering decibels it can pump into ignorant prepubescent ears. Just because this band doesn't have a long haired ape as the frontman that screams unintelligible obscenities into a microphones as he wails about all the girls that have fucked him over and how bad his multi-millionaire, youth music market fueled life is doesn't mean that they don't have talent. Looking at it, actually, it usually means just the opposite. I defy you to find a band out there that can put together rock music with such fine-tuned instrumentation and absoluetly brilliant lyrical quality. Rock on Radiohead and fuck the ones who call you soft. Also, listen to Electioneering and 2+2=5 and then try to call it soft rock anyway. |

The music video for this song is so odd. Very surreal (as if anything by bjork wouldn't be) Her voice on this track is just amazing. I still can't think of any person out on the popular music scene these days that has the ability to just blast through the high notes she hits and just leave her own signature on each one. That coupled with the almost gutteral sound she gets sometimes, Bjrok is something special indeed. |

From celestial hopes and expectations to the depths of dismal despair, this song covers some of the most poignant emotions I have ever heard put to album. The utter torment in Damien's voice is unforgettable, he really does feel the anguish that his lyrics portray. As for Lisa Hannigan, she is absolutely gorgeous, her voice being exquisetly powerful and yet subtle. Seeing this gang live was a treat and no mistake. |
