I think savejake has the meaning of the song down and the deal with whether thrice is a christian band it doesn't matter at all, no one needs to be christian to have morals or be tempted. Thrice can use biblical proverbs without being a christian band, many great writers have used biblical allusions, yet that doesn't mean they endorse a specific religion. |

I heard this song when I was like nine and I was pretty freaked out but of course I can't judge the song if I only heard it when I was nine and don't know any German at all. I only found out it was a recipe till now (Great humor I must say). Just to all those ppl who say they hate being american and the ppl who trash americans, in general everyone can make groundless assumptions on anything. The thing is it's in a different language and I know many people who feel uncomfortable when they don't understand a word of a language that is being spoken around them. So stop with the political competition and country bashing and just learn your languages because we wouldn't have so many wars if we weren't fighting over who has the most freedom or which country was better would we? |

The song was insane I never heard anything like them before and so I had to find out who they were. Anyways I love this if you haven't heard it, by the way the vocalist is a girl, it's different but great. |

Creed doesn't come anywhere near Pearl Jam and if Aaron Lewis is gonna do Black live I think you're smart enough to suppose that Pearl Jam is his influence rather than unnecessarily degrading a great song and band. Even if you believe Staind performs it better, it's Pearl Jam's song so technically Staind could never perform it better. I have to disagree with AlmightyRuler on the whole missionary example. Missionaries have the intention of bringing salvation to their "recruits" meaing they feel they are doing good for the helpless people not for themselves. The song is certainly not about good intentions and deeds for other people, this person is filled with hate from whatever situation he has received it from,his intentions in this song are purely of revenge and self satisfaction. A lot of people are making one huge literary mistake, confusing the author with the speaker.Whether Maynard was abused in his childhood or not the song enters the mind of one who was abused and was so psychologically affected, he must abuse to keep himself together. The rewording of the Bible passage in the song, "Do unto others what has been done to me" displays the mindset of the speaker, he is deranged and his moral consciouness is twisted. |
