First, it is odd to immediately assume they are but left-wing because the song may seem anti-bush. But at no point does it specify Bush in the first place... I'd rather think it is, as how Outside Irony put it, it's about american slobs. Perhaps about brainwashing, but more on the point that it is on the fault of the viewers who seem to willingly surrender themselves to what is on the television. The term "electric sheep" denotes a rather routine-like herd, not to mention an utterly naive, motivation behind the actions of those said TV viewers. The video as well, gives a good indication of the meaning of the song. |

This song rocks. Totally. He's just very clearly paying tribute to his first ever stereo. At first, you'd think it's a girl he's singing about, but when it gets to the chorus, you realise he loves his stereo, and that it's always there for him, and that nothing, not even a girl "can compete with [his] first stereo". |

i think it is to show the contradiction between "stupid kid" and taking back all his words. Like, in btoh senses he's portraying extremes of a character, extreme love and extreme hate. In both cases, he's still being a stupid kid, as immaturity causes him to say such words. |
