Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics 18 years ago
The song to me is pretty clearly about suicide, which I think indicates that they didn't "steal" those lines from Nirvana but rathered borrowed them as a way to support their point, seeing how Kurt Cobain did commit suicide. Musicians actually do that kinda stuff pretty frequently, there's nothing wrong with it. I don't think they were trying to be sneaky, they made it too blatant for that... their just trying to make a powerful point. Just my opinion, but it does make sense.

The Appleseed Cast – On Reflection Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with Italian Phaethon... perfect way to kick off probably my favorite album set of all time.

To me, the car is symbolic of a relationship, not necessarily a love interest, but probably a close friendship. The trust is there and he's just cruisin along with it, when suddenly the whole relationship crashes and burns. The middle of the song refers to this, how if you're not careful people will take advantage of you. You have to be cautious with other people, because you never know who is gonna be there for you when it matters. The last line and the first line refer to the car symbolism, how the relationship was wrecked. He was in the driver seat, and he can't help but feel that he could have done something to save it. As he walks away, confused and shaken, I think he realizes that it's not entirely his fault, and that in the future he should know to be more cautious with his trust. Hence, "He steps away from his car...with wary eyes and uncertain grin."

Just my interpretation, it's probably alot deeper than that. I'm probably way off on the meaning, but I know I'm right on the money when I say that this is a beautiful song and it represents some of this amazing band's best work.

The Appleseed Cast – Fishing The Sky Lyrics 19 years ago
the sky and the ocean are vast, and when you look at the skyline breaking over the ocean it looks like they could go on forever. I feel like the term "fishing the sky" is kind of a bridge between the two on the horizon over the ocean, which can never be reached.

It's kind of a longing to be at such a beautiful point as the horizon over the ocean, but the realization that such a point is impossible to reach. Could be metaphorical to something? I don't know... but either way the lyrics are beautiful, and the song is amazing. My favorite song, by any band.

Jimmy Eat World – For Me This Is Heaven Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is about a loved one who is dying. It's hard for him to accept that this loved one cannot be saved, so it's his way of letting out his emotions. I think the first part of the song is kind of metaphorical to his denial, and the rest of the song is him coming to grips with reality. I don't think it has anything to do with a relationship. Just my opinion though.

On an unrelated note in regards to OldskoolrockerJTS's comments, listing bands that played before you were born does not make you sound intelligent. Most of those are great bands that are extremely influential, but they aren't as complex as you seem to think (other than maybe Rush and Dream Theater.) Complex doesn't necessarily mean good anyway, and simple doesn't necessarily mean bad. If we want to judge that way, then only orchestral music is good. But wait, orchestral music is "queer" isn't it? Whatever, just trying 2 educate about MUSIC.

Thursday – Ný Batterí Lyrics 20 years ago
Sigur Ros is amazing... the lyrics are in a language called "hopelandic" which is basically nothing more than a slightly altered form of icelandic. I highly suggest you all check out Sigur Ros, its unlike anything you've ever heard before. Thursday did a damn good job covering this song too.

New Found Glory – My Friends Over You Lyrics 20 years ago
Nothing Gold Can Stay was a great record for its time. Since then, NFG has gone straight to hell, I must say. I'm sorry, but shit like this song... awful...

I must admit, however, that NFG puts on a pretty good live show.

Jets to Brazil – Rocket Boy Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm surprised so few have commented on this song... it's really something incredible to listen to. In my opinion I think that Blake wrote this song about himself. I know he's struggled through depression over the course of his live, and this song seems to refer to the use of drugs as a way to cope with that depression.

Saetia – Venus And Bacchus Lyrics 20 years ago
It is in my opinion that there is no band - anywhere, ever - with the lyrical ability of saetia. It's moving enough just reading the lyrics, but when they are put into song form it's almost overwhelming emotionally. It's amazing.

And i'd lke to fourth that orgasm, even if it is about a year later.

Blink-182 – Dammit Lyrics 20 years ago
It's really too bad this song was stolen. Download "spork" by the Vacant Andy's, which was a band that played several years before Blink 182, and you'll see what I mean. It ain't a bad song I guess, but it's a complete rip.

Oh yeah, and not that I care since I get no pleasure out of his work, but the Vacant Andy's was Chris Carabba's first band from I think when he was in high school.
