This song seems to be about suicide, especially when you focus on the part about jumping off the edge. Also, later in the song, they sing "What are you going to do if you get too weary to go on? You're not going to exit."
I think they are talking about suicide as an exit to life.
Also, the idea of "there is no around the corner anymore" means that you are headed straight ahead and not turning left or right. |

I agree with OHdesolation. This song is amazing! Why hasn't anyone commented on it?
I think the song is about the King's depression at the mundane life he leads. I think it shows that life is dull and boring for many people (even for someone as powerful as the King). Life is going on around him, but he refuses to participate. The words of the wise man do not motivate him. The jesters jokes don't make him laugh. He takes no pride in his daughter's beauty and good intentions. It's kinda sad, but true nonetheless. |

This song is awesome, but when it comes to the anti-war lyrics in the extra verse, I have to agree with famous poet Charles Bukowski when he says: "I don't think any artist is being daring and original when they state that War is Bad. That takes as much courage as hitting grandma behind the neck with a two-by-four." |

Did you ever think he was speaking literally? Maybe he actually has sexual fantasies about lionesses and he wants to try to engage in sexual intercourse with one but he is afraid he will be torn apart.
If you don't think that's what he's writing about, then you're probably right. I don't think that's what he is writing about either, but it would be interesting if it was. |

I think Morrissey has trouble fighting his homosexual tendencies, and this song shows it. I think he is sexually attracted to both (and at the same time, neither) genders. I think that he, like Bright Eyes, lusts after other men but is apalled at the sexual act of anal sex. I think he blames Jesus for making him love men, but be unable to bring himself to drop to that level. |

The song definitely leaves you questioning the motives of the hit man. Why did he kill the son and not the father?
I assumed it was because perhaps he realized that the son was an asshole, and the loving father seemed innocent, so he just killed the son instead. |

I love the way this song starts. It is probably my favorite song on the CD, even though I don't think I understand the meaning of the song at all. I'm sure there is more to it than just a gambling husband being left by his wife because of his bad habits. |

Oh, I love this song. I think the song is about a girl growing up in an abused home. It sounds like her father's friends sexually abuse her and she hates it so she lives in her mind. The messages she carries could be from the father to the mother, or perhaps more business related, but either way, you can feel the girl's despair. |
