Atmosphere – Sound Is Vibration Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"leave your body resting moored" should be "leave your body resting in Moorhead" |
Buckcherry – Crazy Bitch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this is the worst song I've ever heard. |
Clann Zú – You're Listening to a Dead Man Speak Lyrics | 18 years ago |
imo, feeling devastated after a failed relationship that he felt bad about in the first place. excellent song, one of the best on rua. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Bye June Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song always reminds me of my aunt june who died somewhat recently. it makes me somewhat sad and then somewhat happy at the same time. the lyrics oddly fit. |
Radiohead – Morning Bell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I was told the part about "Cut the kids in half" is a direct quotation from the Bible. Moses (maybe someone else?) gets approached by 2 prostitutes claiming they're both carrying his children. He tells them to "cut the kids in half"." i think it was a little different than that. it was more like king solomon was a judge as well as a king. two women came to him fighting over possession of a baby that one woman claimed the other stole from her. to solve it, king solomon told a guard to take a sword and cut the baby in half. the false mother agreed, but the real mother was all "no no don't do it, give it to her if that's what you'll do", and that's how king solomon knew who the real mother was. i'm not sure if that line is any reference to that, however. |
Radiohead – Life in a Glasshouse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this might be my favorite radiohead song. |
Dredg – The Tanbark Is Hot Lava Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the title refers to the game we all played as a kid in the supermarket where you tried to stay on the certain color tile and all the other tiles were hot lava. |
Deftones – Bloody Cape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
chino screaming "god help me" at the end is so haunting. i agree with the drowning man comparison. |

Dredg – Stone by Stone Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Clann Zú – Words for Snow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"It is like a lot of the songs I write about, an emigrant song. It is about the desperation and loneliness that goes with moving countries and leaving your loved ones behind. The madness that is associated with isolation. It is one of my favorite Clann Zú songs to sing." --Declan de Barra |
Clann Zú – From Bethlehem To Jenin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's about the state of humanity and it's hateful, war-mongering attitude that is present everywhere, from Bethlehem to Jenin, New York to Dublin. |
Clann Zú – One Bedroom Apartment Lyrics | 18 years ago |
one of the most emotional songs i've ever heard... listening to this song can drain you. i love it. |
Screaming Trees – Closer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Bring us closer to the fire This world can't take us any higher" reminds me of The Doors... |
Soundgarden – Limo Wreck Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think I have something to add. "Swallowing rivers, belongs to the sea" I think this refers to humans trying to play God. It's the job of the sea to swallow up rivers, not human interference and interaction. "Blowing the pieces, belong to the wind" I always thought it was "blowing *to* pieces". As in something being blown to pieces by gunfire. It's the job of the wind to blow things to pieces, not human war over meaningless things. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Methusela Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, he lived like 969 years or something like that. |

Soundgarden – Spoonman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't know what's worse, everyone thinking it's about heroin, or everyone spelling it as "heroine". |
Soundgarden – Burden in My Hand Lyrics | 18 years ago |
here's my take on it... i always thought of the song as about drinking. "Follow me into the desert As thirsty as you are Crack a smile and cut your mouth And drown in alcohol" you wouldn't go into a desert if you were really thirsty. to me, this is a person who chooses to deal with his problems with alcohol, even though it won't solve anything. "Cause down below the truth is lying Beneath the riverbed So quench yourself and drink the water That flows below her head" deception. thinking it won't harm you. "Oh no there she goes Out in the sunshine the sun is mine" another life problem, likely a relationship. "I shot my love today would you cry for me I lost my head again would you lie for me I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand I lost my head again would you cry for me" sort of a "i messed up again" thing. maybe the character is talking to the alcohol itself. "Close your eyes and bow your head I need a little sympathy Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone Who isn't me" feelings of inferiority? "So kill your health and kill yourself And kill everything you love And if you live you can fall to pieces And suffer with my ghost" sort of a dark sarcastic few lines... drink yourself to your end... and if you don't die, you're screwed anyways. "Just a burden in my hand Just another anchor on my heart Just a tumor in my head And I'm in the dark" underestimating the problem. sorta like in monty python in the holy grail... "it's only a flesh wound!" "The moon is glued to a picture of heaven And all the little pigs have gone" things aren't what they looked like from far away now that you've experienced them up close. little pigs have gone? the fairy tale is over? of course, i could be completely wrong, but that's the beauty of songs like these. |
Mudhoney – Good Enough Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think you are right. |
Screaming Trees – Alice Said Lyrics | 18 years ago |
one of my favorite trees songs... but i have no idea what it's about. |
Mudhoney – Run Shithead Run Lyrics | 18 years ago |
from the March to Fuzz booklet: "They sent us a clip from the movie With Honors of some jock running through the snow with EMF's hit "Unbelievable" scoring the action. They said they were looking for an upbeat song like that for this part of the film. We told them that we had a bitchin' little instrumental that might work. They insisted on a song with words. So, I put some words on it and we sent down both versions, figuring they'd have to choose the instrumental. They didn't. This was the last Hollywood soundtrack offer we got." |
Soundgarden – My Wave Lyrics | 18 years ago |
if i were to paraphrase this song into one sentence, it would be something like "i don't care what you do, just leave me alone." |
Soundgarden – Into the Void (Sealth) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I really like this speech. and the song. |
Alice in Chains – Frogs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i've always thought this song was about a relationship gone bad (whether it be opposite sex or not). |
Alice in Chains – The Killer Is Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
if you take this song from layne's point of view, i think it's him acknowledging that he's at fault for his state and the worsening condition of it. at the end of the song comes regret, wishing he could start over. |
Soundgarden – Fell on Black Days Lyrics | 18 years ago |
to me, this song has the same sorta basic theme as another song on superunknown, "the day i tried to live". |
Mudhoney – Bill Nye the Science Guy Theme Lyrics | 18 years ago |
mudhoney did this song? this changes my entire life. everything. i knew there was something unexplainable about the awesomeness of bill nye the science guy... mudhoney! my life is complete. |
Mad Season – Long Gone Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love everything about this song. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Rocket Lyrics | 18 years ago |
that can't be true, because siamese dream was released before cobain died. |
Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Martyers, those willing to die for a cause, would stretch upward to try to save him, thus, becomming a martyer by dying to save his life." i always thought "let the martyrs stretch" referred to martyrs being tortured (stretch rack thing?) and him not caring/wanting/able to do anything about it. |
Soundgarden – Head Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with Lepra Messias' view on this. |
Soundgarden – Boot Camp Lyrics | 18 years ago |
feelings of not wanting to conform to the world, wanting to get away from it all, longing for change... seems pretty straightforward to me. i love this song. |
Soundgarden – Applebite Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think the posters so far have it down pretty good. i've found this is a great song to listen to while driving late at night, in a city. try it. |
Soundgarden – Ty Cobb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
perfect title for the song. |
Soundgarden – Pretty Noose Lyrics | 18 years ago |
definitely seems like being on the receiving end of a controlling, one-sided, bad relationship. |
Alice in Chains – Junkhead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
one of my favorites from AiC... very dark sarcastic song about drug use, indeed. |
Alice in Chains – Put You Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
to me, seems to me like it's about a bad habit, one that's personified as a girl. it could be a girl, too. |
Blind Melon – Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is amazing. i think it just might be my favorite blind melon song. |
Screaming Trees – Traveler Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. I think it's pretty straight-forward, too. |
Pearl Jam – Green Disease Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think the song is pretty straight-forward. |
Pearl Jam – Pilate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Apparently bassist Ament wrote the song after hearing a legend about how Pilate sat on a hill with his dog after Christ died, wishing he had finished his last conversation with him. The picture in the sleeve below the lyrics is of Ament standing on top of a snow-covered mountain, hands raised, looking up to the sky with an expression of wonder. Interesting...." |
Pearl Jam – Given to Fly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
on the whole Jesus reference possibility... "This key to the locks, on the chains, he saw everywhere." jesus claimed to be the way, the truth, and the life. "But first he was stripped" before the crucifixtion, jesus was stripped of his clothes and they were divided among the soldiers through lots. "and then he was stabbed by faceless men." the soldiers stabbed him with a spear to make sure he was dead. "Well fuckers, he still stands." the resurrection. "And he still gets his love he just gives it away." unconditional love. ... i'm not saying it's necessarily about jesus, but those few lines sure seem like references to him. |
Pearl Jam – Lukin Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I was thinking Lukin's was like a grocery store or something. Hence, the "supermarket." |
