From what I know-and from what ze Franz boys have said-it's about the ways of the upper class, how they live life based on their purchases and the way they present themselves-"It's a first appearance and a new suit for court." A gentry is someone of upper class, which basically says it right there. |

I must agree-the song's mood is not happy at all. (to be an arse, the original version was better. As mentioned above, it had a more morose quality that gives the song a better feel and atmosphere.) |

Ah, I love this song...especially Daniel's little pseudo-rap in the middle. I don't like the re-recorded OpenDisc version-I prefer the more slurred quality to Paul's vocals on this one.
It's basically what was said above...the couple in question dove into their relationship very quickly, and now that they're unsure of what the other is feeling, it's turned...well, sour. |

I'm surprised no one's commented on this song. First off, it's great fun, and secondly, for a site called "Song Meanings," the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned once...
This song's another one about a girl leaving a guy and the guy in question just wanting her back no matter what, even though it's obvious why she's leaving him ("She even gave me a decent reason for why she left") and that it's over and done with and you can't turn it around ("She's taken all my things..."). The ending ("I simply can't allow you breaking up with me, I'll do it this time") is basically saying that it's easier being the dumper than the dumpee, and that this guy's so sick and tired of being left, he just wants to do the leaving once. |

It's not going to be a single in the US, unfortunately, although it would be amazing if it were. I've heard that "This Fire" is going to be the next US single.
Quite frankly, I find the song hilarious. Some of the lines are just SO outright funny-the line "So sexy, I'm sexy" paired with Alex's delivery just makes it a general fun song to listen to, gay or straight.

I don't see why that has anything to do with you being bothered by the lyrics. Just sounds like pretentious "I knew them when..." bullshit. All the same, it's not blatantly about homoeroticism. You don't hear anything about sex in the song of any nature. It's just about basic human attraction between these two guys, obviously fueled by alcohol. And it's DAMN hilarious. |

Does anyone have ANY clue what Michael's backing vocals are on this song? I can make out little bits and pieces (such as "my girl" and "remind me" somewhere), but no coherent sentences. Ah well. Seems to remain the Great Stellastarr* Mystery. |

I agree with wayne_ozacrot, it shouldn't matter if it has gay subject matter if it's a catchy-good-as-hell song. You just have to dance and sing along, and if you can't feel it, then that's your problem. |

I definitely agree with Sepulchrave. This song is the most chilling, beautiful piece of art-it's not just music, it's an art in itself-I've heard in a while. Kazu has one of the prettiest eerie vocals around. I love Blonde Redhead, no matter what they do. |
