i think yowza bean is right. everything about his sister and the 'puneta' (jerk-off) part remind me of the holiday song, which talks about the same stuff. this song is insane. i think the pixies were all about presentation.. and frank black is just going absolutely insane in this song with his screams and yelps and mutterings, which you would think incestuous thoughts would do to a guy. also, i swear i hear someone take a sip of something in the middle of the song, followed by lots of screaming by black.. maybe he dropped acid while recording. |

i think this song is about the 'bad' kind of drugs, and how people have a ridiculous aversion to them yet readily take their acetaminophen [the most common analgesic in america]. 'Is the problem you're allergic / To a well familiar name? / Do you have a problem with this one / If the results are the same?' people are alright with something called acetaminophen, but not something like cocaine [a well familiar name]. |

suicide seems to fit this song very well. when black says "you can cry you can mope, but can you swing from a good rope [as in a noose]", it's like he's challenging the listener. |

my friend told me that this song is about a boy who masturbates to the thought of his sister. seems strange to make a song about such a thing but then frank black is.. well, he's frank black. plus, the lyrics make sense if you think about it (he took his sister from his HEAD and then PAINTED her on the SHEETS). i think you know what that line is about. and the 'here i am with my hand' line supports this, too. as for what black is trying to get at with the whole holiday thing, i have no idea. frank black is incredibly gifted.. only he could make a song with such a subject sound so good! |

williamhop22 is correct. this song is clearly about drugs. i don't think people realize how many pixies songs are entirely about drugs or at least drug references. come on.. 'holy my head/, 'we'll trampoline', 'finally through the roof', 'we will wade in the tides'. it's pretty obvious. people try to look into things too hard. |

check out the cover of this song done by 'tv on the radio'.. you wouldn't think one could turn this song into a doo-wop, but then 'tv on the radio' is something else. by the way this song is absolutely classic. pixies rock. |
