| all right. i must admit no doubt's new album sort of pissed me off in the fact that they arent really no doubt any more. i mean, everyone associates no doubt with the orange county vibe and suddenly theyre dawning jamaican accents and steel drums. its like, what the shit is happening here? and the past two singles (hey baby, and hella good) were complete and utter disapointments to me, not because they were sucky songs, but they fact that they were so synthesized. ok, yeah they were pretty sucky songs too. they lyrics were completely assinine. but, i thought with this song there was SOME redemption for the souls of no doubt, or should i say GWEN and 3 guys that no one pays attention to. i thought it was almost tolerable until the freaking rap comes in and completely butchers the whole song. they lyrics though are almost like old no doubts. and in the video for the last 20 seconds you can almost see a glimmer of the old gwen stefani jumping on the bed that everyone used to love, before the hair extensions and the extensive make up and acrylic nails. maybe growth is healthy, but you cant tell me theyre happier making music that isnt them. and if it was, dont you think they would have been making music like it from the beginning? i dont know. just a thought. | |

| ok, for a pretty long time everyone told me that std sucked in concert, but i saw them on thursday night, and they were fucking amazing. chris has this absolutely intoxicating stage prescence. i could not take my eyes off of him. i agree with you guys about his writing skills. hes fucking brillant to say the very least. but seriously, all you guys that havent seen std in concert, you have to. i mean they totally showed up greenday and blink. (obviously bc theyre ten times more talent but...) greenday had a good show, but i didnt really get into it the way i got into std. i think it was cos billie joe started jerking off on stage. blink was bloody terrible. but saves the day... was AMAZING. they should have had a longer set. std was easily the best show ive seen in my life. | |

alright kids, if there is one thing songmeanings.net has taught me, its the fact that MTV wars are inevitable. it is a proven thing that YES, bands changes when they get on MTV. im not saying that the music suddenly SUCKS, im saying that the band as a WHOLE completely changes. think about it, for all you old school dashboard fans, little under a YEAR ago, we could buy a dashboard cd for around 10$, suddenly, prices shoot up to 20$. the cd gets on heavy rotation, not only on MTV but on the radio. the entire country gets over-saturated with the particular band. (e.g. blink 182 after whats my age again. it suddenly became en vouge to run around naked) another aspect, suddenly that particular genre goes pop. all of a sudden, everyone you see is dressing like the band. ( a failed example of this is mc hammers 'hammer pants... yeah dont act like you didnt want a pair back in the day) or, the 'underground scene' of the band becomes tre chic. now, i live in a small suburban area and there is a small, but recognizable punk community, BUT its more of an image then lifestyle anymore. stores like hot topic and such make 'punk' a commericalized thing. dont get me wrong, i LOVE hot topic, it makes life alot easier, but they obviously market an image the teenage community. now, another point is concerts. when a band goes big, the concert scene TOTALLY changes, obviously considering theres more people there, but its not the NUMBER of people, but its the attitude of people. it is a KNOWN rule that if you, or someone else in the pit fall, you HELP THEM UP. but, more and more as the rowdy upper middle class white boys get introduced into it, the more you see this rule disolving. i was recently at a blink show, (which has the terrible combination of 'bad ass' college boys, and 13-15 year old girls) and it was appaling in the pit. yeah, it was a freaking BLINK show, you think it'd be timid, but once again, the 'life style' of the punks goes vouge, and everyone thinks theyre at bloody CBGB's and starts beating the shit out of eachother. two monthes previous to this i was at Ozzfest, believed to be "more violent" and i didnt get hurt at all in the pit. now, i know for all you Pro-MTV kids its damned annoying to hear us complain, but hear us out. its not that we dont WANT dashboard famous, its just that we've seen what happens to bands when we become over-saturated with them. thats all. yeah and for those of you dishing out on emo, shut the hell up. you assholes like ogre are the type of losers who make fun of it cos you think youre "hard-core" or something. emo isnt about crying you asshole. its about the MUSIC. the lyrics are fufilling and not so fucking hollow as the stupid shit out there right now. yeah so fucking what if its always about break ups? people can ASSOCIATE to it. thats what its about, is getting thru to people, and being able to CONNECT with people. so lay the fuck off. |

| ok as for the scene in cruel intentions, i dont think it has to do with anette giving herself to sebastion in the literal sense, but more sebastion giving himself to anette in the sense of he finally found someone that he loves. "i am covered in skin, no one gets to come in" is perfect for him, because for so long, he kept himself hidden from everyone, and just kept himself wrapped up and he wouldnt love anyone.
