Bloodhound Gang – Pennsylvania Lyrics 18 years ago
It's a love ballad devoted to Pennsylvania. Go live in PA for a little while and you'll completely understand.

I mean it's Bloodhound Gang, for Christ's sake. "10 best things about New Jersey" - now that's a song bashing a state.

The sattelite radio at the restaurant I work at always plays this when we close. I am forever grateful to Dire Straits for this song.

My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics 19 years ago
Actually, I thought this song meant something along the lines of letting down someone who idolizes you as being above-the-rest. You can sort of see the correlation...

The suicide correlation makes alot more sense though. Kind of reminds me of this one girl I know. She wears me out with her "i hate myself" shit. I see the same correlation in alot of songs...God, she wears me out.

Bowling for Soup – 1985 Lyrics 19 years ago
Catchiest song ever.

And surprisingly, the whole "She hates time. make it stop" line really relates to me.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics 20 years ago
Wow, I just scanned through 91 people all explaining what only an idiot couldn't get out of this song...(this song is really self-explanatory)...and I still haven't gotten an answer to the question I came here to get answered.

The line:
"First born unicorn
Hardcore soft porn"

What does this line mean? I understand the rest of the song, but I can't deduce a meaning from that. It really bugs me when I hear meaningless lyrics (hence my songmeanings.net membership), so any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, this song rocks.

The Darkness – I Believe In A Thing Called Love Lyrics 20 years ago
Actually, I find it pretty refreshing hearing a song like this, and especially seeing a video like that, on the mainstream. I can see this becoming one of those kareoke classics. And for the vocalist sucking...I can't hit those high notes, at least. And I've tried. This song is hilarious. I like this shit.

Less Than Jake – History Of A Boring Town Lyrics 21 years ago
What ChaosFluro said about this song is really true for me. I've lived in the same town in NJ for all of my life, and I always hated it and wanted to move someplace cooler...now, my family has moved to Texas, and I find myself missing New Jersey so much, and the people from NJ-even the ones I didn't like-have found themselves missing me too. I have roots in that town.

This song sort of reminds me of how I wish my life would be.

Meredith Brooks – Bitch Lyrics 21 years ago
Frankly, I'm surprised this song isn't more of a cult classic. I rank it right up there with "It's raining men"...I'm a straight guy who likes Pearl Jam, and I love this thing.

Songs like these are why Pink will never be truly cool.

Why are there 2 of these? I already gave my opinion on this song's meaning in the other one, and I don't feel like copy+pasting =(

TRUSTCompany – Downfall Lyrics 22 years ago
To me, it seems like, in a nutshell, he's facing a huge problem in his life, one that could basically lead him to finally snap, and each time he manages to get through something, or at least somewhat through it, he's hit with something more, and he doesn't know how much longer he can take it, which is pretty easily emphasized with the way "DOWN" is repeated more as the song continues. He can appear strong for anyone else, and can help someone else through something like this, but he needs someone to be there for him, and isn't getting anybody because he appears so much stronger than he is. (hence the "another side of me") He keeps getting hit with tragedy after tragedy until he finally snaps at the end of the song, and just has no more energy to continue.

Or, at least, that's what this song means to me. =\

Trustcompany is has alot more going for them than just a cute bassist.

Goldfinger – Open Your Eyes Lyrics 22 years ago
Damn, this is an awfully stupid crowd...punk is supposed to be political and opinionated, not about sex, drugs, and fucking moms. Goldfinger seems to be the one exception to the saying "Punk is dead". =\

And, for the record, I am a vegetarian (lacto-ovo, not vegan like Goldfinger is), but I actually thought this song was just about corporate America's seeming takeover of every aspect of life, rather than not eating meat, until I read the lyrics. Go figure.

Pink – Don't Let Me Get Me Lyrics 22 years ago
Eh, other Pink songs (ie., "Get This Party Started", "Lady Marmalade", etc., were clearly pop...personally, I see this song as a sort of an apology for all of her previous crimes against humanity. "Just Like a Pill" seems decent...let's hope she lives up to this song, and then cross one teenybopper pop singer off the list.

Ozzy Osbourne – Dreamer Lyrics 22 years ago
Actually, the image of Ozzy sitting there embracing a few little girls was strangely disturbing to me in the video for it.

This is a fine song, but frankly, I'd rather see old Ozzy back. I don't think The Osbournes has affected Ozzy's music (though, who knows, Sharon's cancer might), but I hate how many of the preppie crowd is going to Ozzfest this year because of The Osbournes... [/minirant]
