Ever hear the phrase "burning bridges"? whether the fire is a metaphor or physical, this song is about a woman who for whatever feels like she's not really alive. She feels trapped and as though she's sleep walking through her life. The list of names could have been people who have helped to hold her back, keep her caged into her semi-life. And her coming home with a vengence is her taking control of her own destiny. Burning your house may be a little dramatic, but at least she knows she won't be returning to that prison. |

I completely agree with Heather. This song is about people like all of us who come in and submit our opinions on this site. Some songs are attached to certain memories, and everytime you hear them you think of a place, time and person. You wonder how time has changed everything, but somewhere in the melody of a song is the feelings that go with that moment in time. |

First off let me just say it was the best selected piece out of everything played at the 9/11 tribute, what we needed most at that moment was unity, solidarity, and fire. We needed to be reminded that we are a nation that stands up for our beliefs. And that pretty much sums up the song as well. It has fire, passion, and best of all, conviction. It's short, sweet and to the point. |

Nothing else Uncle Kracker does is along the same lines of this song, which he himself called a one time homage to the Motown Scene. It just happened that this song, ended up becoming a hit single, the one that got his name mainstreamed.
As for the song itself, I would believe either or both theories, drugs or an affair. Then again isn't being with a drug addict sort of like being with someone who cheats? |

for me it's about those relationships that we all have now and then. Those ones that start out with the agreement "no strings attached" and almost never work out that way. We've all been there, nobody can say they haven't fallen in love with someone when they said they wouldn't, and worse part is they kept their part of the bargain. Disposable, replacable, that's what you've become at that point. And it hurts just as much as being dumped in a real relationship. |

I agree with Kaith, MKPunk, and themancky, this song is about when you don't feel anything at all. You feel as though you're not in control at all, but if you don't really care enough to change it. To me it's like screaming for help, or for something anything to change. |

When I hear the song I think about the first guy I ever lived with, and the studio apt we had at first. It was a cramped horrible gas smelling firetrap that was too small with too many nosey neighbors. I think about how much in love we were in that horrid little apt, and i think of the much better place we got together later on, but still the best memories are from the early days. That's what this song means to me, just recalling the days gone by. |

Maybe I'm just a romantic sap, but I think it's about love. When someone loves you they have ideas about you, what you stand for, what you mean. Not just lovers, but your friends, your family. There are certain things people who love and care for you just expect. Sometime you want to break free from that mold, from that pedastal as may be, but you feel as though you'll be letting them all down. To them, you're a type of superman. Even when you are Superman, it's hard to live up to image people have of you. |
