I remember that Kurt Cobain hated being in school and he quit because of that. And then at some stage he felt like he was in school again, he wrote it into a letter to Dale Crover an old friend of his. He wrote "Fuck, Im in High school again! I want to move back to Aberdeen". That was talking of Olympia, where he had to work as a 'cleaning boy' at some place to make money..... He was with Tracy Marander at that time........ and she also had to work and always left notes with stuff for him to do. This should be correct looking at what he wrote in that letter. I saw the add. It's not terrible, it's a magerine add, where there are two guys kissing and smooching with a chick in bed (they are all naked) and then she stands up and goes to the fridge and takes the magerine and holds it to her face.... ppl in germany (the males) find it disgusting that she favours the magerine to the guys, and so on... but listening to the song, it says "it's a ne day it's a new dawn ...." so it could be that when she stands up time has already gone by and they men are sleeping and she going to the fridge afterwards...... but germans dont understand english that well, so off cousre they dont understand. i was very happy to hear muse there, coz they arent famous yet, and i always sing along everytime i hera it on TV!!!! |

yeah, kurt really sound good in this song, even if it's a cover. But i guess Kurt's voice sounded better live then in studio.... that's why the Unplugged CD kicks butt. In my opinion it's about people always trying to find something more, to move somewhere better, to a higher plateau, maybe even in a spiritual way. Noone's satisfied with his life and with what he has, so they always search for more. And then when they think they reached the next plateau then there's nothing there, and nothing is better..... "Who needs action when you got words" that's a strong ironic phrase, which i think means, that they talk about how they wanna "get higher" and move on and stuff but they never do anything to try to get there..... this song is simply about the media "raping" him in a way that they abuse everything in his life and also his wife. It was particularly directed to MTV. Because kurt always had a fight with them, for example at the MTV awards where Nirvana was supposed to play a song MTV forbid them to play rape me, because they knew it was mocking them, so they said if they played that song they would stop the whole thing and so on..... Then when the moment arrived where they started playing, Kurt played the first notes to "rape me" to scare MTV but then went on playing "in Bloom" or something..... funny story, he had humor. AND i swear its true..... so believe it, and dont try to interpret more into it then there is. |
