| the thing about emo and emocore is that bands don't confess to actually being it. emo started out as a derogatory term used by authentic hardcore bands to make fun of the bands who were evolving from the more traditional hardcore format, such as moss icon and still life. no one confesses to being emocore, but that doesn't mean they aren't emocore. | |

what you people are calling screamo is what emo used to be. sdre and appleseed cast are emocore (not emo mind you), which is an off-shoot of emo. and APartOfMeDies, TBS is not modern emo either. for modern emo check out saetia and the most secret method, to name a few. both are recent within a few years, tmms having just released a new cd. and i'm not critisizing you for liking this kind of music, just stop calling it emo. |

| if you want to hear what real emo sounds like, go download some stuff by the bands xjkx listed, or try some of these other ones: Saetia, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Heroin, The Most Secret Method, Forstella Ford, Indian Summer, or Noneleftstanding. Just stop calling all that other shit emo. And enough of you people saying "'emo' is short for 'emotional'." so what? nsync and backstreet boys have emotional lyrics about girls and the like, but i don't think i'll see any of you calling them emo. | |

| thank god xjkx came along and said something about those bands. they are emo, all this shit isn't. just so you people are straight, Dashboard Confessional, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, The Promise Ring, Thursday, Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory (even though i don't know why someone would call them emo, or even punk for that matter) The Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Realestate, Further Seems Forever, Elliott, Jawbreaker, Finch, The Juliana Theory, The Appleseed Cast, Time Spent Driving, and all these other similar bands........ ARE NOT EMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | |
