Sonic Youth – Bull In The Heather Lyrics | 18 years ago |
there was a horse a few years ago called "bull in the heather." that's what this song is about. the video makes that obvious. |
Widespread Panic – Action Man Lyrics | 22 years ago |
ok, i know this song is about man o' war (the horse), but beyond that, i'm at a loss. here's what i do know: "willie" was man o' war's groom. he did, in fact, say that man o' war was "the mostest hoss dat evah wuz." (and if you forget about secretariat, that's probably true.) re: "maybe back at that old Kentucky home..." man o'war was, of course, from kentucky. (as am i, hence my fondness for racehorses and bourbon). re: "saratoga," that was where man o' war lost the only race he ever lost, to a horse named, appropriately, "upset." in sum, i'm still trying to figure out what j.b. and the boys were gettin' at when they penned this ditty... |
Grateful Dead – Casey Jones Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i don't know who's a better poster child for conservatives; mojo or sierp. both posts say "hippies are losers." btw, i like the dead. i like their music, and i'm sure they are (or "were," as the case may be. r.i.p., jerry) good people. i also count widespread panic among my favorite bands. i can think for myself, and tend to be a bit of a contrarian. i have no interest in "oppressing" anybody. i possess no hate or anger, and consider myself to be open-minded. but, alas, sierp's right. hippies suck. |
The Cure – A Few Hours After This... Lyrics | 22 years ago |
great, great song. it really captures that whole "eye contact with a hot girl at a bar" thing that made being single so much fun. "fizzy night" good stuff, bobby smith. |
The Smiths – Paint a Vulgar Picture Lyrics | 22 years ago |
great, great song. it is ironic, though, given the fact that there are roughly 20 smiths songs that appear on multiple albums ("Buy both, and feel deceived..."). at any rate, the song effectively communicates the ups and downs of fame and the music biz. |
