the first verse... "What else should I be All apologies" --asking if he should not be a star because he isn't a role modle "What else should I say Everyone is gay" --asking if you blame him for being what we all want him to be...a rebell--for lack of a better word "What else could I write I don't have the right" --it isn't his job to say Courtney is hooked on drugs though he admits he is---this meaning might be off..its an interesting line..but it would fallow with my theroy. "What else should I be All apologies" --repeated...mainly he can't stop thinking its his fault and the coures.. in the sun--his description of being high..sun..later he says Courtney is sunburned...(now you see my point) in the sun i feel as one--when he is high he feels whole. just my theroy.. |

This song is brillant!! but, its about how he got Courtney Love hooked on drugs. Don't believe me?..2nd verse, easily amused--when high my nest of salt--its his drug she found his fault--it was his fault she is hooked take the blame--he knows she first did it with him aqua seafoam shame--describeing his guilt--he is blue sunburn with freezer burn--when she is "sunburned"--high..his guilt makes him feel bad, he becomes "freezer burned"--ashamed--blue/cold ashes of her enemy--proof he knows drugs do her harm all in all is all we are--they are both stars who are hooked on drugs.... He actually explains his guilt in the first verse...but that is done extreamly vague |

All of his lyrics are deeper then they appear. After reading all of his songs over and over and reviewing his background I believe he is more creative with his lyrics then he is givin credit for. This song in my oppinion is about his adventures with women. The tarp is a condom the animals being traped are women with their sexual behavior and how he turnes them into his "pet" fallowed by how his hormoes drive him to live like this (he is liveing off of it)..then onto how its ok to treat women like this because that is what they expect from him as a rockstar. the tittle and coures are the keys for me. I think it is what bothers him. There is something in they way?...his feelings, he is hurt that all the women he meets don't care for him as a person..they just want ...him...all of his songs are about sex, regret/doesn't care (a -thats what you get attitude), or drugs. This one is about sex. Why use fish?...ask a girl what happends by the next day if they don't clean themselves after sex. |
