Elvis Costello – New Amsterdam Lyrics

The term "Double Dutch" in the phrase "...speak Double Dutch to a real Double Duchess" is a reference to a kids' language-game, in which kids add the syllable "op" after each syllable of the word. Thus, "hello" becomes "hopellop." The result sounds Gibberish to bystanders but is understood by the kids using it, as a sort of "secret language." |

Kate Bush – Wuthering Heights Lyrics

@[ArsMorideni:9405] It's a play on their names of course, but Kate Bush in no way resembles the Cathy of the story of course. I'm pretty sure Kate was aware of the play on names and it was perhaps one of the things that made the subject matter appeal to her. |

Kate Bush – Wuthering Heights Lyrics

This song is truly remarkable, and of course also stands on its own, but it was originally inspired by a BBC mini-series based on the novel and by Kate subsequently reading the novel itself (by Emily Brontë).
The novel can be very confusing, especially when read for the first time. I recommend watching one of the movies based on it (I watched the 1939 one, IMHO that version does a pretty good job of summing up the plot in an accessable format). Especially if you are new to 19th-century English literature. |

Sting – Fragile Lyrics
|

Dido – Closer Lyrics

This song is a bonus (aka "ghost") track on Dido's new album, "Life For Rent." It's the most beautiful song of this album IMHO.
Her bf seems to be touchy and nervous. Perhaps he's unsure of their relationship and of her feelings toward him. She reassures him that it's alright and that she wants him closer. |

Sting – All This Time Lyrics

Sting wrote this song as part of a concept album, "The Soul Cages," written as a tribute to his father who died then. At times of loss, people question their belief in the afterlife and things like that. This song, and the entire album, are a masterpiece by one of the most talented songwriters of our era. |

Elton John – Runaway Train Lyrics

This is my most favorite song of "The One" album. Life is like a runaway train that hits you, and there's nothing you can do to escape. |

Dido – Life For Rent Lyrics

Sometimes I also feel that my life is rented, not owned. I'm here on Earth on a leased period of time, and when the lease ends, I return to the soil whence I came. But I need to treat life as if it's all there is, because if I don't, then nothing I have is truly mine. This is what this song means to me. |

A1 – Caught in the middle Lyrics

I'm also a M3ta11ica fan (or at least used to be). I'm far from being a 'teenybopper', and I don't intend ever meeting any of the singers to whose music I listen to. I do appreciate good music though -- music that's easygoing and a pleasure and delight to listen to. A1 just has it, as much as you might envy their talent which you obviously could never attend. So what's your deal coming here to trash them? If you don't like their music, why bother view their lyrics at all? |

For some unknown reason this song always reminds me of the motorcycle gangs and their Hell's Angels :) |
