i think it's a very good translation. I have rarely seen such a good translation : both in the grammar and in the meaning, it's just perfect. It was a French song written by Edith Piaf who was a very famous singer after the second World War. |

translation almost right... the second sentence is wrong though : it's "all yours forever" and not "WITH you always".
The song is just magnific !!! It's an Edith Piaf song (i think) who was a French singer after World War II, she was a very good artist and i just love what she sang. |

i don't think it's an absolute love song, i think the lyrics are far more intelligent than that, than just some ordinary love story. I think it's all religious biased. But i don't know enough about Cohen to say if it's anti or pro-religious. I don't get the meaning yet, but for sure, it's about religion... and not just SEX !!! put off those blinkers you guys (andrea and kez) !!!! |

ok, just one thing about what finch said : they don't claim themselves to be christians (not religious, this is totally different ! religious people are in some cold churches, christians are LIVING their faith) but are simply wondering about things and as artists, they just express their feelings. I like this song, but not musically speaking. Actually, the song is just made to make fun of the britney spears' shit and other stupid pop singers, and in the same time, the lyrics are very violent and angry but sang in a pop way. It shows how a band can have an influence on their listeners. It's like "look what we can make you say, sing with us those violent lyrics without realizing it". Very clever skin !!! |

this is a song about white people trying to evangelise black people in south africa during the apartheid, I think (not sure). She tells how angry she feels toward those white people who just wanted to impose things to the black without trying to understand them. This is taken from their first album which mostly deals with black&white people's relationships (paranoid and sunburnt) |

well mat, i don't know if you're right because the title of the song is a pun : in english, an intended is a fiancé, someone you are meant to marry, so when he's asking her to be his unintended, then the song could as well be an anti-marriage song. Maybe the writer (matt) wanted thus to say that he doesn't believe in marriage, but only in love. |

i THINK the song is about Gert who is the shadow man. In fact when I saw him playing this song live, he was dressed in black and it just came in my head. There was almost no light on him. I think the song is about fame, how it can leave you so alone. i think he's talking about the fact that his sister is much more put in the light than him. But i'm really not sure of that. |

I know that the singer had a baby when he recorded their last album. So I think that he's talking about his baby, like his baby is pure and he would like to be as pure as him. He describes the bliss his child brought him. I'm not sure though ! |
