| This song is one of the most meaningful songs i've ever listened to. The message is fairly simple, but the way that he expresses himself throughout the song is so real, and so full of emotion that you can't help being drawn into the song. Maybe its just because i have been in exactly the same situation myself and i can empathise with the lyrics, but the hopelessness of his situation is depicted with the great contradictions. You give it all, but i want more. Nothing to win, nothing left to lose. The basic problem is that being with her is too hard to bear because he wants her so much, and being away from her is too much for the same reason. On a bed of nails she makes me wait. You give it all but i want more. He is showing his mixed feelings. He is angry that she is letting him stay in this situation, yet he knows that she is doing all she can. Hrmmm...i've gone on for a bit haven't i...it's just that this song is the story of my life, so i kinda could talk about it for a while...but i guess i'll just leave it here... | |

| I really dunno exactly what the meaning of this song is...but what i get from it, is that people put more importance in how other people (in particular their parents) make them look than they put importance in how they look themselves...He tells the stories of two young people that are different in some way...one has white hair, the other has birthmarks all over her body...but both of them are glad that their parents aren't weird, like this other kids...so yeah, i dunno...someone give me some other ideas... | |

Yes, i agree... Not only does this song have great music to it, but the lyrics are very deep and meaningful...(as is the case with most of the bands songs) It uses alot of common themes, but phrases them differently, like "Superman never made any money, for saving the world from Solomon Grundy" Brad Roberts is writing about how true heroes give without any thought of reward...i could go on for days about this stuff, but i spose i better stop. Its a fairly self-explanatory song anyway...If u haven't heard it...listen to it now... |

Well, first of all, i agree with Pyschotica... That pretty much sums up everything i think about this song as well...unlike alot of the other explanations, this one actually fits in with every line without tenous links that usually don't even make sense... Secondly however, i think its cool that there are so many different opinions...i write songs myself, and when i show them to other people, they very rarely understand it exactly the way i wrote it...thats really the whole point of good lyrics. They make you think, and unless you're just being completely stupid, theres no right or wrong meaning. Thirdly, OwnPersonalDemon...hrmmm...well, let me put it this way...you sound like someone who would make a good friend, but a really bad enemy...i say stick to ya guns and don't other people tell you that you can't have your own opinion. Well, thats it i guess...oh yeah, and good work Pyschotica... ;) |
