Holy shit, been what... 8 years since I've logged on? I remembered this site in a dream and remembered my password by coincidence. I truly apologize for my lack of clarity. I used to love rage. Battle of los angeles was terrible, as was everything following. I posted because I actually believed that rage could and would revert. I was wrong. And while I respect their opinions as a band, I think they have become ridiculous. Audioslave was ok, but were they better than soundgarden or rage? No. Sorry I caused such an uproar, but the opinions I expressed at the time were genuine, and I do not regret them. That said, my opinions about rage have not changed, and this album was truly the beggining of the end for me. While I respect tom morello and zack delarocha for their initial ingenuity, I can no longer claim to be a fan. My rage library ends with evil empire.
I would love to see rage live again, but I'm over festival shows, and reunions are all they do (that should tell you something). As for the "punks", i'd love to see the looks on your friends' faces as they read your posts about blink, sum 41, and yellowcard lol.

Tannhauser was a German knight/singer/poet from the 13th century who apparently gave into his sinful lusts one night (i don't know the details) and later sought absolution for his sins. To derive is to trace to a source. Perhaps Dennis has a similar story, and wants to know exactly what made Tannhauser give in, so he can find out why HE did whatever he did. Even the scarce lyrics here support this theory.

no no, the japanese surprise attack was an act of desperation in itself. they wanted china, and to get it, they needed oil from us. oil that we would not give. plus, they figured we'd end up fighting them sooner or later anyway, so why not take a shot at us when our belly is exposed? oh, and the attack on alaska was an attempt to divert US pacific forces north, so that the japs could take midway without much of a fight. ANYWAY... i hate to break it to you, but the common man is an idiot. that's why government will never be perfect. not that i'm anti-government - until we come up with something better i'll stick with democracy. but just because the "common man" believes it doesn't make it so. and yes you are allowed to call yourself an ass. nobody was arguing with you so i figured i should take up the cup. cheerio. |

dman, i agree with your statement 100%. oh, except we didn't get invaded by japan. we got ATTACKED by japan. i don't recall the japanese laying siege to los angeles or san diego. they bombed hawaii, and to the best of my knowledge, that was the last time they did any damage to US soil, aside from US territories like Midway and the Phillippines. the japanese attacked us pretty much out of desperation. that doesn't justify it, but that's why. they wanted to rampage throughout asia, but couldn't do it without US oil. we cut off their oil. the rest is history. but anyway, i get your point, and agree with it.

i mentioned this before, but apparently none of you read it, so i'll say it again. we are not attacking afghanistan. anyone who thinks that is ignorant and isn't paying attention. we are not carpet bombing afghan cities. we are only targeting taliban military targets. sometimes, they plant anti-aircraft machine guns on top of markets or houses simply because they know we'll take them out. they WANT their civilians to be killed, because they know that when people hear that there are civilian casualties, they might start to get pissed off. another thing you're missing is that civilians die in EVERY war. there is no avoiding it. during the allied invasion of occupied europe, american and british bombers bombed french, german, austrian, and italian cities, most of which had innocent civilians. so are you saying we should have just allowed hitler to remain in power, just because we didn't want any civilians to die? in cases like this, we have to choose the lesser of two evils. also, did you ever stop to think that the taliban and its allies are LYING about how many civilians are dying? that's what the palestinians do. either that, or change the facts in an attempt to gain sympathy. so when they say "the israelis killed an 8 year old child" they forget to mention that the kid had a fucking bomb strapped to his chest and he was trying to kill innocent israelis. this war is as much a propaghanda war as it is anything else. |

to freefallin: i don't mean to defend the making of this song, and i don't necessarily disagree with you. but to the best of my knowledge, toby keith wrote this song intending to only play it live. he didn't want to put it on the album, or allow it to be played on the radio. but as soon as his label heard the song, they forced him to. i think we all know how fascist record labels can be. that doesn't excuse the writing of this song, but this is america, and freedom of speech is one of our luxuries. it's fine to disagree with the song, but don't hate him for writing it, or having a different opinion.

i agree with hellion child. i think he says "when she calls from the doorway..." he's saying some chick is sort of coming onto him "stolen water is so sweet" romance (or sex) is more fun when it's... wrong. like if he already has a girlfriend. "this is not the first time i've stood in front of this door..." he's cheated before, and he knows he shouldn't. "my true love, you called from the hilltop..." his girlfriend kind of knew what was going on and tried to stop him by warning him that the "water is poison" but he gives into his lust anyway "come on and give me my poison." and then the last verse "what have i done" he knows he screwed up and he regrets what he did but it's already too late. i'm probably wrong, but that's what i think about when i hear this song. |

freeefallin, you don't agree with our taking action in the middle east because you don't like the fact that there are innocents being harmed. that's understandable. but innocents die in EVERY war. do you think that when the us and england were bombing the french coast in preperation for d-day, they weren't taking quite a few french farmers out as well? would you rather we never bombed them at all, and allowed the germans to keep all of europe in a headlock? the difference between us and them is: we don't go out of our way to kill innocents. they do. the reason innocents die in the middle east is because (insert middle eastern dictatorship here) place anti-aircraft emplacements etc on top of or right next to crowded houses, because they know that the US will have to take them out. they PLAN to have innocents die, because they know it will make the US look bad. do you honestly believe that american commanders are ordering their pilots to carpet bomb undefended civilian encampments. i don't. |

Right on Dizzy-Devil! I thought emo was music that incites emotion... meaning that if this song gets someone emotional, then it's emo to THEM. Then again, emo is also used to describe a particular genre of music, and that's where things get confusing. Same with punk. A punk band is not necessarily punk these days. If a band with a punk sound is only playing punk music to fit in, they're not punk. Get it? Anyway, i'm off the subject now... but myhopesaresohigh, what's wrong with writing songs about depression? Just because Thrice isn't a christian band doesn't mean they can't write songs about god. I'm not saying that this song is about religion in any way, but come on. You're retarded if you think only religious bands write songs about religion. Also, I don't see how being a christian makes you a non-punk. It seems to me that being anti-religion is the cool thing to do these days, making christians more punk than you give them credit for. They stick to their beliefs despite the fact that you criticize them for it. Again, that's not to say that all christians are punk, or that non-christians aren't punk.
