This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out now
She was a day tripper
A one way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there, now
She was a day tripper
One way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Tried to please her
She only played one night stands
Tried to please her
She only played one night stands, now
She was a day tripper
Sunday driver, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper
For taking the easy way out
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out now
She was a day tripper
A one way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there, now
She was a day tripper
One way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Tried to please her
She only played one night stands
Tried to please her
She only played one night stands, now
She was a day tripper
Sunday driver, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper
Day tripper, yeah
Day tripper

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
I heard in an interview with paul m. that this song was about acid. rumor had it that once you took that drug you where never quite the same and could never get back to that original high becuase it was a "...day tripper one way ticket, yeh." It is also about paul's struggled with peer pressure within that group to try it that is why it took him "so long to find out, but [he} found out."
I believe so, too! On "The Beatles Anthology", when Paul is talking about LSD, they start playing this song.
@rubyhorse21 I have to agree it's about drugs. Would be nice if you could link to your source, though. But I know it's been over 10 years since you wrote that comment. Fuck I'm getting old.
it doesn't make sense that it would be about a whore unless you stiffed her the bill. Whores are supposed to take you all the way there, not tease you and leave. Why a whore? are whores the only females who have sex? maybe that line is just a thinly veiled sex image. Sex does not equal whore. One night stand doesn't even equal whore. Slut sometimes. But I don't see any money transaction taking place. I wish this song were about John realising what a loser Yoko was.
A "DAy Tripper' was a peson who hung with the cool folks and did the drugs, but on Monday morning took off the cool clothes and put back on the suit and tie and went back to the 9-5 world. Not a cool dude at all. It was a scornful song.
@jim68ny Only 10 years later, but...The day trippers who sobered up, put on the suits and ties, and went back to the 9-5 world went on with their lives, you know. Tha cool folks turned into tiresome druggies, eventually living under bridges or in squalid empty buildings, and when overdosing, were revived by those uncool 9-5'ers.
The song is about someone who takes trips during the day.
one the best riffs of all time. catchy as crap.
REPORTER: I'd like to direct this question to messrs. Lennon and McCartney. In a recent article, Time magazine put down pop music. And they referred to "Day Tripper" as being about a prostitute...
PAUL: Oh yeah.
REPORTER: ...and "Norwegian Wood" as being about a lesbian.
PAUL: Oh yeah.
REPORTER: I just wanted to know what your intent was when you wrote it, and what your feeling is about the Time magazine criticism of the music that is being written today.
PAUL: We were just trying to write songs about prostitutes and lesbians, that's all.
@fusionpit Cute. Just the lads taking the piss.
It took me so long to find out but I found out. That doesn’t suggest a quick flirtation with drugs as has been suggested. I think it is about a girl who is basically very shallow and was leading-on the writer of the song. The writer of the song was looking for a more meaningful situation but she was just leading him on and it took him a long time to find out but eventually he found her true nature so he took the easy way out and walked away. ‘One way ticket’ is a ride to nowhere. Sunday driver is a term used to describe a leisurely non serious person. One way ticket. There’s no reciprocity . She’s all take and no give. She’s a big teaser. She’s not interested in anything but her own ‘power’ He took the east way out and walked away before becoming too involved with shallow self-centred person.
Easy way out -not ‘east’ . Damned touch screen keyboard
"She’s a big teaser, she took me half the way there, She’s a big teaser, she took me half the way there - now"
ha ha, in true Beatles fashion, this verse is about being blue-balled. 'big teaser' was supposed to subliminally bring to mind the term 'prick-teaser'.
which is probably not such a big deal today (heard worse on MTV), but back in the Sixties, pop musicians just couldn't say those things.
its a good song and the videos great in a studio non of that black and white shit so beatles kick ass
has anyone heard the version with the beatles and Jimi Hendrix ,ohh its so good, totally raw and unpolished,Jimi plays the guitar its sounds so awesome.their singing isnt that good but that beside the point-its probably b/c they hadnt sung the song in awhile.Download it,its worth it(too many "its").the song is about drugs-im pretty sure.
I've heard it many times. That ain't the Beatles though. It was merely Jimi's backup band (Mitch and Noel) playing along. They did Day Tripper for the BBC's Radio program I believe.
