She falls apart
By herself
No one there to talk or understand
Feels the same
Dries her eyes
Finds herself, opens a door and sighs

People see right through you
Everyone who knows you well
Falls apart
Might as well
Day is long and nothin' is wasted

Run away, run away
Hold you tomorrow but your goin' away
Run away, run away
Hold you tomorrow but you're leavin' today

You walk alone
By yourself
There's the sound, nothin' is changin'
They've gone away
Left you there
Emptiness in nothin' you can't share

All those words that hurt you
More than you would let it show
Comes apart
By yourself
Always well but nothing is wasted

Run away, run away
Hold on to you but you're goin' away
Run away, run away
Hold you tomorrow but your leavin' today

Sometimes I feel aroused so I cannot be down
All the time I've been on my owm
Any sound of being here
Time to wastearound a friend
I know where to runaway.
No where to run away yeah!

She falls aprt, no one there
Hold her hand and seems to disappear
Falls apart
Might as well
Day is long and nothin' is wasted

Run away, run away
Hold on to you but your goin' away
Run away, run away
Hold you tomorrow but you're leavin' today

yeh i always thort it was 'feels the sting.. dries her eyes' cos she feels that pang of hurt that we all feel...(the sting) i love this song... its so sad its about (i believe) a girl who hides her real emotions and pretty much breaks down when she gets alone only the people who knew her well.... could see the real ehr but they all went away and "left you there" its an extremely sad song my fave. line is "hold her hand it seems to disappear"

I just think this some is about someone going through rough times. Where you feel like you have no one you can tell, because no one will understand... "feels sustained, dries her eyes, finds herself, opens the door and sighs, people see right through you, every one who knew you well, falls apart.." It basically feeling like no one understands your problems....think of it in regards to this quote...."My problems are mine and I am the only man alive who can sustain them"...the concept of being misunderstood.

I think this song is from a guys point of view on a depressed girls life. "She falls apart by herself" someone who fakes a smile by when they say "no one there" and i think itys about how people are realizing it and that she can't it anymore

this song is about the love the person has for this one girl. She's depressed and wants to just die, but the person cares for her. They want to be there for them, even though she is very depressed. It's a very good song

been in love w/this song forever. I think this guy sees that this girl has nowhere to turn. She feels abandoned(comes apart by yourself), with no one to share her feelings and problems with(no one's there to talk or understand). The only way out she sees is to leave all her problems. He has feelings and empathy for her, but doesn't know how-or doesn't have the courage- to reach out to her.

The actual meaning of this song is, well, meaningless to anyone other than Mark McGrath himself. What you interpret the song as is what it means. What the song means to you, personally, is the real meaning. That's the beauty of any art form; the multiple ways it can be interpreted, or, in this case, the the multiple situations that its listeners can put it into and say "Hey, this song's about me!" So...to somthin clever, you're the one who's "really wrong". As for the song...it kicks ass. Peace!

This is my favorite Sugar Ray song. For me what it means is like a lot of you said. This girl and guy fall in love, and this girl falls into a sort of depression, and this guy is trying to do all he can because he knows. Possibly she's verbally abused by a parent (all those words that hurt you, more than you will let it show). Like "Everyone sees right through you" like, everyone in her life knows the happiness is fake or she's being fake, and he's the only one who knows the real her. Like about her hand disappearing and such, he feels he's loosing her, but isn't sure what to do because in a sense he's feeling lonely, but isn't sure what to do because she won't open up enough to him. I don't know...kinda reminds me of myself in a way and my ex...

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
