Lyric discussion by LocalFreak

It struck me, initially that the stilted sound of the verses are like words that mark passage through time this is supported by the line 'just a few stages of acceptance that it's really over' bitterness is evident coupled with the idea of being completely alone, 'my father never loved me' 'my mother she abandoned me' whilst the backing voice sings 'you never loved me' showing this is only an impression of the loneliness the 'you' makes him feel. The 'do I remind you of a part of you that you despise' and other variations show some evidence of self-loathing coupled with bitterness, possibly by being manipulated through a relationship gone sour.
