Pushing like pudding
Like butter, like gold
You wanna get the cash, you wanna get the fool
You wanna find the fake, you wanna be seen
You wanna blame an addict but you're already a fiend

Fuck it, the whole world is gonna see
High off fumes, addicted to the feed
What's it all for? Like you don't really know
Another on the hook and another Jane Doe
When you're pushing back and forth then forth and back again
They say that you were free, now you're locked in a cage
You're pushing lies like your life is on the line
You want a reason why
Now you're begging for a sign

Maybe, maybe we're all fucked (fucked)
Maybe we'll all burn (burn)
Maybe we're all just purging
Yeah (yeah), maybe we'll all die (die)
Maybe you were right (right)
Maybe we're all just parasites
(Purge)

You cutting like glass, like needles, like knives
You wanna get the girl, you wanna win the fight
You wanna be a God, you wanna be a star
You wanna be another and this time you went to far

Fuck it, the whole world's gone mad
High off smoke, addicted to the fad
Why am I here? Like, I don't really know
Another in the bag and another Jane Doe
Now you're pushing back and forth, then forth and back again
They said that you were free, now you're locked in a cage
You're pushing lies like your life is on the line
You want a reason why
Now you're begging for a sign

Maybe, maybe we're all fucked (fucked)
Maybe we'll all burn (burn)
Maybe we're all just purging
Yeah (yeah), maybe we'll all die (die)
Maybe you were right (right)
Maybe we're all just parasites

(I can feel the purge)
(I can feel the purge coming on)

Maybe, maybe we're all fucked (fucked)
Maybe we'll all burn (burn)
Maybe we're all just purging
Yeah (yeah), maybe we'll all die (die)
Maybe you were right (right)
Maybe we're all just parasites
(Purge)

    Song Meaning

The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy. – Maria Brink

This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart. It was such a crazy time. Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, ‘This is gonna be our first single.’ Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria’s lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song. – Chris Howorth, guitarist.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Head > Heels

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
