Crucify me
I long to perpetrate your suffering
That’s all I ever do
I wish to steal your oxytocin so you never trust
Feel something other than happiness
You live to serve me, be my self-destructive masochist

I am torn by the way the sand has drained
But you’re tilting the glass like it’s stained
But every second you took away
I never wanted you to be this way

Give me all my time back give me all you fucking took away
Every time you tell me, “you’re foolish, hang your head in shame”
As if I always try to push you away
Why don’t you let me be; let me fucking slip away

Perpetrate my suffering
That’s all you’ll ever do
I wish you’d steal my oxytocin, so I’m rid of you

Fall asleep ‘til she beckons me to fall through darkness
We fall apart, can you put the pieces back together?

I wish you’d steal my oxytocin so I’m rid of you
Bite the hand that feeds
(Oh, please; oh, please)
Beat the man that bleeds
And gaslight me
Just beat me down until I can’t fucking stand
As you take away everything that makes me a man

Fall asleep ‘til she beckons me to fall through darkness
We fall apart, can you put the pieces back together?
Beckon me, may I have the strength to fall from you
So we fall apart, can you put the pieces back together?

With the sun in your eyes, you can’t fucking see
Forever in denial, you can crucify me

Lying to the face of everyone you know
You’re grasping at the surface but they’re letting you go
So when we’re both in hell, and I’m down on my knees
You’ll still be in denial and you’ll crucify me

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
