I wish you were here tonight with me to see the northern lights
I wish you were here tonight with me
I wish I could have you by my side tonight the sky is burning
I wish I could have you by my side

Cause I've been down
Now I've been crawling
Won't get down no more

[Chorus:]
Can't you stop the lies
Falling from the skies
Down on me
I'm still standing
Can't you roll the dice
I might be surprised
Conscience clear
I'm still standing here

Burns like a thousand stars, though you are light years away
Burns like a thousand stars and more

Cause you're up there
You're always with me
Smiling down on me

[Chorus]

Something sacred, something so beautiful
Something quiet to ease my mind
While the pressure's taking me over and over

Cause I've been down
And I've been crawling
Closed around and always falling
You're up there
You're always with me
Smiling down on me

[Chorus:Repeat x2]

I actually read it is exactly like that. This song is about a friend of Lauri (the singer) who has died of drugs... I read that in a comment of this song by himself.

i think it's a man singing to a girl he loved who's just died, and they faced terrible peril together or something and now he's left to face all the troubles they once fought together, but he's strengthened even though it's so hard because he imagines her watching over him and staying with him.

no one commented on this song yet? well, then... it's mine!!

    right...

well.. my opinion on this song... it seems to me the singer is talking to someone who was close to him who might have died.... ("You're up there, you're always with me, smiling down on me")... and misses that person...

    how very technical and deep...

this song is awesome though... definetly one of my faves off the "dead letters" album...

Come on? Anybody else wants to comment about this song? We already know this song is about a friend of Lauries who died. But what the heck does he mean by "cant you stop the lies coming from the skies"? I certainly dont know.

my guess is, "cant you stop the lies coming from the skies" means that since he died from drugs, people r making lies about him and saying stuff and lauri hates hearing it because he loves his friend and he wants the lies to stop

I think that the singer in the song is still very confused as to what he believes is going to happen after death, and so he is asking his friend who he would normally turn to for advice, but who is now dead not to forget him and to help him sift through all of the different religious and scientific answers out there to find the truth -- "Can't you stop the lies falling from the skies" -- but I dont understand the part about his conscience being clear.

well...I don't usually trust in magazines or online interviews(only videos where I can see them and stuff saying whatever they're saying)...and today I was listening to the song, and I think it could be another thing: He's talking to God, he's telling him something like: hey where are you?? I'm still here standing and u don't stop lies or whatever...and I'm needing you, and I wish u were here with me... well..that's only what I feel like hearing the lyrics and dunno...but well, if it's true that thing of his friend...ok, I'm wrong^^ but I see it like that...just like that, I try to look for another meaning and there's no answer in my mind(lol) "conscience clear,I'm still standing here"---->hey, let's talk clearly and seriously, I'm still here and I haven't received a sing from You(God)....dunno, I'm religious and I know how a person feels like that in respect to God and if he's helping me or not......thoughts of mine... well...nothing more rock on!!!!!!!!! LOVE YA RASMUS!! (sorry if my english is bad..I'm spanish)

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
