Twin Sister – Nectarine Lyrics 11 years ago
What is this song about? It's so beautiful and it seems like he's singing about beauty, but is there more to it?

I think of Lenin and Trotsky, who tried to change things for the better and will go down in history as villains.

Regina Spektor – Raindrops Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song is about love, and also the desire for human connection. The person she cares about doesn't know about her feelings, but she's okay with that because she's confident that even if they don't return her sentiments that she'll be alright.
Then she talks about how people are all trying to find that connection around every corner, but they're caught up in their lives so they are unable to find it often times. And at the end when she says "baby" a few times I think that signifies her genuine hope and loneliness for this person. Just my thoughts

Regina Spektor – Prisoners Lyrics 12 years ago
I dunno if anyone else thought of it this way, but I always thought of it as though the prisoner's were imprisoned (metaphorically or no) by institutions of society, and they don't really believe that they've done anything wrong. Like when she says "no gunmen or guard dogs or priests" I think she's saying that both the government and the church have the capacity to persecute those who don't fit in. And I thought she was trying to say "a thousand books cannot heal" to refer to rehabilitation in hopes of cramming new ideals down the throats of people who are deemed unfit for society.
And then she talks about Hans Christian Anderson, saying that if she'd been properly taught about what is considered right in society that she wouldn't be imprisoned.
My momma thinks I'm grown but I'm really just little- she has a lot to learn about the world and it hasn't been kind to her.
