The Beach Boys – I Can Hear Music Lyrics
|
agree with blue waves. Lyrically it's a pretty straight forward love song. Melodically, it's gorgeous, so props to Barry/Greenwich/Spector. I don't know how popular either version was back in the day, but it deserves more credit. I'd not heard it until I went on a Beach Boys binge this year. Vocally, Carl is at the top of his game here, just beautiful. I've heard that this is regarded as the point where Carl effectively assumed the position as musical leader within the band. |

The Beach Boys – Long Promised Road Lyrics

It's too bad nobody has commented on this, it's a really underrated song, and as always, Carl sings beautifully. Everytime I listen to the words, half of it sounds like mumbo jumbo to me for some reason (even though I can understand the words), but it seems pretty obvious that it has to do with overcoming difficult hurdles and fighting off the obstacles in life, or something like that. At any rate, people should search for this song on youtube, there's a really sweet music video type thing they filmed for it, with Carl. |

Weezer – Troublemaker Lyrics

maybe the rhymes are overly simple or whatever, but this song actually makes some sense to me and is some of Rivers' better lyric writing (in terms of his more recent work).
The tone of the song overall seems really cynical, but I think the idea kind of goes along with the whole Pork and Beans thing, that he's not interested in fitting some rockstar mold, he's going to do what he feels is the right thing for him to do, and what he wants to do. These lyrics just aren't as direct and in-your-face as Pork and Beans. |

Weezer – Sugar Booger Lyrics

i always thought that the words were "we could get up and get-get down". personally i think those lyrics make more sense than "kick it down".
anyway i don't really know what the lyrics mean, either. Probably nothing, considering the time period rivers wrote this in. Maybe it is about cocaine, but there really isn't much evidence for it besides the euphamism of the title. |

The Beatles – Real Love Lyrics

I remember this song being released with the Anthologies, and I was so mystified by it. I think it is probably one of my favorite Lennon/Beatles songs. I find the first verse particularly striking, so beautiful. I also like the effect on Lennon's voice. Even though it does sound a little synthesized, I think it actually works well with the song. I'm not even engaged, but I'm 99% sure i want to walk down the aisle to this. It's hauntingly beautiful, really. |

Weezer – Oh No This Is Not For Me Lyrics

i don't know if why bother is trying to be funny but I don't think "wuan (juan?) danno" makes sense at ALL. I'm 98% sure it's "no, don't go". but that's not the point. This song's opera feel really made me want to see the rest of SFTBH released, or at least some of this male/female dueting realized. It seems like it could be really cool. |

The Beatles – Tell Me What You See Lyrics

This is such a sweet song. It, too, has always been among my favorites. I must be the simplistic melody and the cutesy lyrics that drive it home for me every time. I never get tired of it. Pretty underrated song, too - i guess i really love the beatles songs that seem to get little attention. |

Ben Folds Five – Mess Lyrics
|
Actually I read something Ben said about the song, and he basically said that the line about not believing in God was not actually a proclamation about religion, but more his way of saying that the only one that can get him out of his "mess" is himself, and nothing else can bail him out. |

No Doubt – Spiderwebs Lyrics

oh please, bamaman, 80% of the words you copied and pasted out of the thesaurus don't even make sense in this context.
Anyway, I'm not even a fan of theirs, but I have to give credit where credit is due. This is a good song. |

Weezer – This Is Such A Pity Lyrics
|
it's people like 'xsimpledesignx' that need to just suck it up and enjoy the songs without (for just a little bit) lamenting over something that will never happen. People need to get out of the mindset that it's not going to be good unless it's TBA or Pinkerton. And while I love both albums, the constant whining for them to replicate that is SO ANNOYING. I'm glad they don't. |

Weezer – Hold Me (Make Believe Version) Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
I really liked this song back when it was just a wee little acoustic demo, in what, 2003? Anyway, I was pretty eager to hear what they had done to it, upon hearing it was going to be on the album. I was blessed to hear it live just about a week before the cd came out, and perhaps the live atmosphere played into it, but it just gave me shivers. It's really got an epic feel to it. |

Weezer – Freak Me Out Lyrics

Save for the 'can i buy you a drink' line, the spider thing really makes sense. Even if Brian was "jk-ing", I wouldn't put it past Rivers to write a song about a Spider. |

Phantom Planet – By The Bed Lyrics
|
This is my favorite song off of its album.
I thought it could be about either a girl dying or a break up, but i'm leaning more toward the death standpoint, all thought lines like "Why can't we talk this through" seem to say otherwise. Still, it's a powerful song either way you look at it. |

Weezer – The Organ Player Lyrics

It's surely not their best, but to see a weezer song with a story line is refreshing...even though this song has been scrapped, I think it's a step up from maladroit. |

Weezer – Walt Disney Lyrics

Yes - the whole walt disney being frozen thing is nothing more than a myth, and this song as we know it was done in 1995. I like it, it's quirky. |

Jimmy Eat World – Anderson Mesa Lyrics
|
I suppose it COULD conceivably be about suicide.
"Don't leave without intentions [of ever coming back]" - as stated before, suicide is a pretty permanent thing.
"Vacation, you'd take them, if you wanted you'd ask them" - perhaps thinking about the person who died and regretting/being remorseful. Saying that the person could have taken a break from everything if they wanted.
And well, obviously, "graveyard".
"Alone I'm outside..." i don't know, it could be interpreted as the guy feeling the effects of the person being gone forever, and observing all the intricate parts of nature. |

Jimmy Eat World – For Me This Is Heaven Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
This is definitely a song about a long distance relationship. Think about it that way, and the words totally make sense.
"I close my eyes and believe that wherever you are, an Angel for me"
I believe that line sums up the entire theme of the song. It's saying that regardless of the distance, there's still a bond between them. |

Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics

Wow, those lyrics, as simple as they are, really hit home. They're pretty self-explanatory, I think, about someone who is hurt by their significant other's involvement with drugs. |

Personally, I find it to be just a simple pop song as well as an homage to the best rock and roll/pop songs...ever. Hence, "A Praise Chorus". |
