This comment may be a little late, but I believe the comment above refers to another song on the album, "Antennas To Heaven."

Anyway, this could very well be my favourite track on "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like..." The prophetic speach given above with the strings in the background, followed by the very deliberate, yet increasingly intense strings...this is what I truly think Apocolypse will sound like, people.

(I'm also far too sleep-deprived for my own good and I have little idea of what I'm talking about. Ignore me, please.)

that is which the prophet and the oarman summoned has penetrated

This line is wrong, it is that is which the prophet and the urim and the thummim has penetrated

Sounds like a born-again Christian talking about the moment they were converted to me. Maybe a slightly mentally unstable born again Christian.

    I love this song

I'm pretty sure the lyric towards the bottom where you have "there will be terror under this day of night" is instead "there will be prayer on your lips day and night".

Not entirely sure, but pretty sure.

Godspeed You! Black Emporer - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas Into Heaven - Static.

This is the entire corrected Preacher Speech. I just spent 30mins on this comment!!

The end of the initial speach is wrong, and I'm not sure if it says 'emotions' or 'motions' in the beginning? You typed 'emotions' but it sounds like 'motions' to me. I also corrected line 15.

There is only a post here once every seven months so I hope this helps, because it would have saved me some time.

====================================================================== ... it takes a holy life it takes motions it takes dedication it takes dedication it takes a death and only god can allow it and you couldn't do it if you're not the seed of god and so the path through the great corridors these are corridors unto his perfection that is which the prophet and the The Urim and Thummim has penetrated that through this great sea of blackness that i penetrated through these corridors and i went through that last segment where i went through these dark serpentines i passed through that corridor where they sat where they are and when you penetrate to the most high god you will believe you are mad you will believe you've gone insane but i tell you if you follow the secret window and you die to the ego nature you will penetrate this darkness oh yes there's many a man or woman that's been put in the insane asylum when this has happened to them and they're sitting there today, people think they're insane but they saw something that's real and they see it when they're on drugs the only thing is they see it not through the light of god, and the way i show you i show you to see it through the light of god and the understanding of god because when you see the face of god you will die and there will be nothing left of you except the god-man, the god-woman the heavenly man, the heavenly woman the heavenly child there will be prayer on your lips day and night there will be a song of jubilee waiting for your king there will be nothing you will be looking for in this world except for your god this is all a dream a dream in death

And so I went through that window I encountered hell and the greatest serpentines of the highest order And I went through that when I showed you chart number 3 The question is asked in Urim and Thummim concerning the Pit This horrible pit of mire and flame With the Urim and Thummim you can ask me a question If it’s asked from the right being or the right soul Out of Urimm and Thummim I can give you unspoken words That’s never been spoken it’s not even in the Bible Yes, it does clarify what is spoken in the Bible…

This song really scares me. I don't know what to think about it, it obviously sounds like someone is giving a speech about a sort of vision they had... Possibly talking about an occult ritual of some sort...

It sounds like "Careful with that axe, Eugene" around the 15 or 16 minute mark. Which isn't a bad thing. I think it's about the darker parts of our minds.

The imagery is at times decidedly and specifically Judaeo-Christian. The urim and thummim he refers to were part of the priestly vestments in the Old Testament which were in some way revelatory, though it does not specifically describe how they reveal God's will. The term God-man, I have also heard used before, but only of Christ. Further, the statement that no man may see the face of God and live is from Exodus, I believe. This guy is definitely not an orthodox Christian, but his imagery is Christian. There is a statment that was left out of these lyrics that comes immediately following the last line that states "I can give you unspoken words, that are not even in the Bible" So as much as I kind of like his depiction of Christianity as an experience that will cause the death of the self and the creation of a new man, I absolutely think he's apostate because of statements like that and a few others in there, as well. It's a magnificent song, though.

Step
Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
