Lyric discussion by npchong

I think the way the music of the song sounds, along with one particular lyric, tinge this song with doubt and melancholy. Yes, there is a lot of sweetness in a few of the lines, but when he says "I won't let you down" in full voice, then "yes, I will, yeah, I will" in half voice, you know that this isn't the unabashed assertion of total devotion that it might seem to be. I think this mentality carries through the whole album. It's not just about how nice and sweet and beautiful love is, it's about that, and about the far less glorious side of love as well. How you can hurt the people you love, how they hurt you, and how much it sucks to fail in love. But the first and last tracks are tinged with hope. That's what prevents the album from being a big bummer, and elevates it far beyond most other albums.

I love this song and so does my fiance. I can't really explain why we have such a connection to it, but we do. We want to use it for our first dance in our wedding. But from what I'm reading, that won't exactly be appropriate/make sense... thoughts anyone?? Please!

Any suggestions on other good, non-mainstream songs that would be good for a first dance song? Thanks!

Music is always interpretive. I think it would be a lovely choice for a wedding ceremony. There is a lot of warm sweetness in it, enough to make the experience memorable.

I have always said since i first heard this song (&& ive been a long time follower of coldplay since they came out) that this will be my wedding song!!..i hope hopefull used this bc like the above said all music is interpretive and its how the song makes you feel...although the lyrics arent exactly all mushy and about the greatness of love i believe npchongs description its exaclty what this song means to me..which makes it a great wedding song!!!
