Lyric discussion by WildHoney

This song is definitely about MLK and Christ. They both made the ultimate sacrifice all "in the name of love." What more will be done before the world is at peace? Who else acting for love alone will be brought down? Another powerful message from U2....

Im just guessing, "One man washed on an empty beach" any relation to Noahs ark if the lyrics relate to biblical stories,

I have no idea what this song is about. The pride, I assumed was MLK's, but then it sounds like the person who killed him, so it makes no sense to me.

Beyond, 'what more in the NamE of love?' it seems to say little. Unless MLK became prideful... i don't know, like I said. Mystery.

I think it means pride as in dignity. "They took your life but they could not take your pride". Even though MLK faced violence and hatred he always fought back with love, praying for those who used him badly (keeping his dignity). Great song.
