It could be about a love relationship, or about depression, or even a variety of other things someone might be struggling with. I look at it more generally, as dealing with the trials and tribulations of life, its unpredictability, your attempts to get the upper hand with the problems of the day, and son on.
As such, I do get a bit of inspiration from it. And to Tithonus's comment: Yes, now that you mention it, the strings and overall sound do remind me a lot of The Sensual World. Come to think of it, I suppose this was Kate's "goth" phase. (-:
