1) This song is about the falling of Lucifer from Heaven to Hell. Now I'm not religious, but this idea totally makes sense. The "Father" means God, and the sounds from the places where he was born is the angels singing. The hill upon a blue lake is Heaven, the "lake" being the sky. The happy home, king on a golden throne, heart brake, and Heaven's got a plan for you parts are pretty self explanatory.
2) This is idea is more original, and by that, no one has had this idea yet about this song. This song might be about a kid who is struggling because his dad died in war. Hear me out here:
"There was a time, I used to look into my father's eyes"
This line shows that he used to see his father, spend time with him, but no more. Maybe his father left or died.
"In a happy home, I was a king I had a golden throne"
His life was exceptionally good, he was treated like a king. His life was "perfect", and he felt he had everything going for him.
"Those days are gone, now the memories are on the wall"
His life has taken a turn for the worst, maybe from his dad dying. I feel that his dad might have died because of the part where he says the memories are on the wall. The wall could be referring to the Vietnam War Memorial, and for those who don't know, this is a memorial that is in the form of a long black wall, and on it or the names of all the people who died in the war. Or maybe the wall could be referring to just a wall in his house,where all the family pictures are kept, meaning that he can only see his dad in the pictures, in the memories.

Maybe this boy, now man, is reminiscing about the times when life was good, before he lost his dad. Maybe he thinks back to those times and remembers what life could have been.
"Upon a hill across a blue lake, that's where I had my first heart break"
Now this might be a stretch, but maybe the blue lake is an analogy of all the men coming home in their blue military uniforms, and just the sheer amount of them made it feel like a blue lake. The hill might be the place where all the people awaited their dads or husbands to come home, basically where all the soldiers families stood. This is where he realized his dad wouldn't be coming home, this is his first heart break.
"And my father said, don't you worry don't you worry child, see heaven's got a plan for you..."
After he realizes his dad his gone, he hears his voice in his head, telling him he is okay, that he is in Heaven now. His father might not have actually spoken to him, but it was a voice in the kid's head that was telling him everything was okay, his dad went to a better place (maybe a coping mechanism).

During his times of trouble and mourning, he met a girl (young love), who helped him get through his loss. Because they were so young, they felt like they were invincible (rule the world), and that their love would last forever. As an adult, he thinks of her now and then, and he is reminded that their is still love in the world, and that in all his trouble and sadness, he knows he will always have a friend.
These two make the most sense to me I don't know if maybe one of the members of SHM had a dad who died at war, but I feel like it all makes sense when you look at the lyrics. Anyways, just my two cents.
