During the song the lyrics change from 'life's a lesson' to 'my life's a lesson' this change is right after in the video clip he is choking her, so he didn't kill her saying her life is her lesson. Then the lyrics change again but this time the guy is the victim, literally. In the video clip it show her walking out of the front door at this symbolizing that she is finally free.
