Such a great song...perfect mixture of hope and despair. I think it's about how, although everything may seem perfect on the surface, it takes more than love to make a romantic relationship successful. The third verse holds particular meaning for me (largely because I was in a failed relationship many years ago with a St. Louis girl)..."I miss your broken China voice"....could anyone besides Waits come up with a line that brilliant?
