Ziggy Stardust was Bowie's alter ego. When he became overexposed he created Ziggy to deal. Really all the comments about Jimi Hendrix are a little puzzling...didn't everyone know that Ziggy was Bowie's projection of himself?
On an unrelated note, the "well hung" thing probably means just that. Bowie's huge penis was a major thing people remembered about him. I seem to remember a quote that was in Rolling Stone recently comparing it to a pendulum.
