BTW the lions teeth could be the fact that he is finally taking action b/c chance fell in his lap, and is grabbing something (like alcohol or drugs) that the abuser takes and "Nobody in this house Wants to own up to the truth")
Because in other song in this CD he clearly refers to it: Hast thou considered the tetrapod

ILUVU,
I think that the narrator is referring to facts rather than nightmares, of course, at the time of his struggle with the "lion" he recalls the nightmares that the abuser cause "I am dreaming on YOU" to be able to hold on to the action that has decided to take ("taking the chance that fell in his lap")

@Hamza i think this is mostly apt. except when he says "I am dreaming of you" i think he's referring to cathy. the the sense of freedom & escape he feels with her is what i think his motive is in provoking his stepdad in whatever way he does (grabbing the lion's tooth). that seems more likely than trying to spite his stepdad into returning to how he was in the few positive memories he has of him. after all, with cathy he is a wild creature and babbling brook, it feels like something very worth fighting for to him...

I think that:
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Abuse? I believe the song is merely a nightmare. Most nightmares are caused my guilt; fear; and other such negative emotions.
