I think Nick is trying to get close to this person but won't let him in by putting her guard up or "locking the windows" and she has been pushing people away and ruining her relationships with people from "all the pictures in the frames are cracked" perhaps because she is afraid of what people have to say about her or what people will think. "cause she's afraid of everything I have to say to her face" and "cause she's afraid of everything they're gonna say behind her back"
