Lying naked in the sun Making eyes at everyone You're the one Later on, you'll stand alone Below an empty moon With an empty heart In your empty hands

The person is exposed and vulnerable because of their carefree nature and optimistic attitude and since they're always nice and friendly to everyone, some look at the person with hate. They don't like them and think to themselves how insecure and childish the person is. The person is then cast as different and is teased. The other people imagine happily how soon this person will be quiet, empty, and alone.

And the flowers and the trees All laugh when you walk by And the neighbor's kids Run and hide If they only knew You were really one of them But you're not You're the one

Absolutely nothing accepts this person now. Not even others like them. The other people only see this person's flaws and in the most exaggerated way and aren't willing nor wanting to see the truth. The person is seen as sort of a monster now though they've done nothing.

Could it be, we're alone And the moon was full of gold Your heart was filled with blood And the sun was in your hands The sun that burned you then Now warms your empty heart People come and go But you're the one

The people who alienated the person before are now reflecting on what they did. They start questioning if maybe the person isn't alone, was never alone. Maybe they didn't need anyone but themselves to be happy from the beginning. Maybe they (the people who shunned the person) are really the ones who were alone. And so they see how the person is just like them; just another human being. They see that this person was the one that brought happiness to others and feel bad for making it backfire on that person. The person is content though and holds no grudge though the others regret and the person's happiness (which has never gone away completely) is rekindled and brighter now as they look forward to the future. People will come and go. Some are good and some are bad. But this person is "the one". No longer are they "the one" who is teased and unaccepted, but "the one" who is the best, the nicest, the happiest and who can overcome all.
