I don't get the European analogy. I think the song is on a more simpler level - its about girls and guys from Northern Europe who spend the summer working in beach resorts in the Med. and burn out by the end of the season through hard work and equally hard partying. Its almost a dig at Club 18-30 Holiday reps.
