This is such a fun song and it was soooo popular even before my time. It's not a song about love. It's a song about a woman looking for opportunity, and she's found it with a man of means...he has money and distinction, so she's willing and able to spend time with him. In essence, it's kind of like a song about prostitution, just a different kind. Makes me think of all the times I see old men with hair pieces in sports cars...and a young blond bombshell sitting beside him in the car. He could very well be a great catch minus his money, but the odds aren't that great for him should his money disappear. (Man, I have generalized:)
