People go through bad times in their life and you have to be strong enough to get through it or else you will get swallowed by it, right? Right. So what about the good things? Of course they pass too because, overall, change is meant to come into your life for you to know what "living" feels like. If everything stayed perfect, then nothing would be perfect because it would be the same sh** everyday, all the time. That, my friends, is when the bad comes in. She is the one that will most likely cause it to fail as she just cant commit due to her fear of being hurt, which comes from her past. Someone left her and that fear carries through in life unless she can work through it alone or with a counselor. It could be the actual or perceived 'abandoment' of a parent, sibling, ex, etc. But it comes from someplace in the past and is carried into every relationship going forward. Sadly, it is totally something that most of us do. Until we learn to love ourselves and know that we are all good enough and if someone abandons us in a relationship of any kind, that it is not us and the next relationship should not be tarnished because of the past. It is hard to do. We need to love ourselves fully and until we do, how can we love someone else? Just my opinion as an old man that has been hurt and also probably hurt people due to this reason. I was afraid of being hurt and didn't think I was good enough for someone else to love me. Boy did I lose a good one 13 years ago for that reason and sadly, it isn't coming back. I completely agree with that line of reasoning, but I wonder if she also wants to fly away because she fears intimacy which in turn prevents her from committing to experiencing true love with this person or anyone else ever again. Fear of abandonment/fear of loss and fear of intimacy become a self-fulfilling prophecy according to what some of the online comments have suggested. To me the lyrics describe mutual love between them, however ultimately she will destroy all hope it of growing into a deeper connection because well, fleeing is much easier than risking what she believes will be an inevitably painful rejection once that person realizes she is unworthy of receiving unconditional love. Ironically, she claims to be capable of loving the other person wholeheartedly but has failed to first love herself at least that much.
