This song is definitely not about rape. Its about Sherri's first marriage that broke down "There i sat alone in the car the weight of what you'd done around me" Meaning that he told her that it was the end and she was trying to grasp it all.

Sherri is now happily re married to Max Bemis of Say Anything. They are both amazing!

I can see how that line alone might make you think it's a reference to rape, but taken in context with "but oh, it's alright, now it's over, oh baby, this was the night and oh mr. moon, shines down on my home, it's where i belong without you" it's clearly not. So no worries :)
