I beg to disagree that it's obviously about drug addiction. It's about alienation and loneliness. Second line of the song. Not a lot of people left around... then he talks about no love between the sheets. It's about his isolation, which may have come from his drug addiction, but you guys are reading too far into it. I do agree that it's a beautiful and uplifting song, but remember inspiration comes from places other than personal experience.

i think it is also talking about how when times are hard there are not alot of people there for you. and you shouldnt focus on that but keep your eyes fixed on the sun and get to a better place in life.

Yeah, call me slow but i didnt really get the drug addiction -ness of it, your interpretation seems more plausable to me.

@AltIndie Picking one part of the song and saying that it could be about drug addiction but saying the next part of the song proves it's not about drug addiction is exactly the way people pick and choose what to believe based on biased thinking. No love between the sheets is a reference to drug addiction. Any addict will tell you their drug of choice felt like the greatest love of all until the addiction became toxic. Sobriety is about breaking up with something that once nourished you but eventually lead to your destruction. Isolation, loneliness etc. It's a song...
