Lyric discussion by bohemiandonut

I think Pitchfork got this one completely wrong. This is layered song for sure but as far as the bottled message to the press is concerned I hear it as a sincere (if somewhat complicated) feeling of forgiveness, not a "funny put-down" << Pitchfork. P4k is so odd sometimes. Do they get this record or don't they? Do they really appreciate the "essential complexity" of Bejar's music or are they just being placating? OK I'm just pissed that somehow this is 1.2 points short of the PERFECTION achieved by Kanye. I know, fuck pitchfork. But ARRRGH this record is SOOOO GOOOOD

by saying "don't be ashamed or disgusted with yourselves" he is making the assumption that they are ashamed and disgusted with themselves. so i think it's a put-down in a way, but i also like that you think it's sincere. i agree...think of the saying that all music critics are just failed musicians...that's a dig at critics (and quite possibly true), but when you get behind it it's fucking sad. i wouldn't wish failure on anyone and even when critics lash out at something because of this failure, the lashing out is also sad. see reception to 'this night'....
