I always think of this song in the context of ''A Song of Ice and Fire'' (spoilers up to 4th book here:). I think of Jaime and Cersei's relationship (which is incestuous). He is the one who loves her for real, while she just loves the part of herself she sees in him (they are twins). So he loves her so much, but she uses him, in truth. He gets captured at some point, and we can see the siblings are in agony about each other, and want to be re-united as soon as possible. When he has the chance to come back to her ("hard to find love since you arrived here") he is different ("I know I know I know you felt a change in my heart") and he does not serve her purposes anymore, so she finds excuses to drive him away ("I know I know I know the planets ripped you apart"). Jaime is becoming a better man, and starts to realise who his sister is ("all that I've lost is bound to pass / dying to know too afraid to ask"). While he still thinks about her (All the night her dream passes by my bed undeniable, and all she said.), and still dreams about her, he can't forget the way she treats him. Then Cersei gets into a difficult situation and sends him a letter, saying she loves him. So the whole song is kind of a contrast: The guy who loved her so much is slowly realising that she didn't love him, while she either realised she did love him too late or was attemptimg to use him once again. So the guy thinks of "all she said" that hurt him, but also about the letter that says the opposite. In the end he decides to leave her, because it was all too much for him.

Summary: A guy loves a girl very much. She treats him very bad and makes excuses: I know I know I know you felt a change in my heart I know I know I know the planets ripped you apart And he is heartbroken while he slowly realises what she is doing to him: Hard to find love when your a walking blind in here go wash your heart in the river till the water runs clear She either regrets or tries to use him again and writes a letter, but he's had enough and says goodbye anyway.

I know I might be completeley wrong, but in association with those two I mentioned above, it makes perfect sense to me.
