The thing I like about Flyleaf's songs/lyrics apart from the obvious EPICNESS! Is that each song has a different meaning to everyone to me this song is about Jesus, and maybe how Lacey felt/feels from when she was younger .
The stanza "And here I am alive, and I don't have the right, but he gave me the right costing him his life"
Seems to me that it talks about how Jesus died for our sins.
I'm getting that tattoo'd (My first one) hopefully very soon as it means a hell of a lot to me.
"I believe (...)" indicates to me, the day her Grandmother took her to church, the day before she was going tp end it all, and the vicor (or someone simular) told a story which seemed so much like her life. "Although you've never had a father He can be a father much better than anyother" (not quoted word-for-word) Thus resulting in Laceys faith in God.
I don't mean to get all "preachy" but wether or not you believe in God, during the times you feel like you have no hope left try praying. I did, i asked him to help me, and the next day i bumped into these wonderful LDS missionaries who just talked to me and asked if I would like to learn more about them...
Honestly, I believe God has saved me many times... =]
@ credoche I totally agree with you. In the jewelcase booklet the "story" threw me off cuz it talks about the wife thinking her husband was cheating and how he saves her etc etc. I don't know why they did that cuz it's clear to me it's about Jesus and the rest of the stories in the booklet make sense with the songs. Someone on youtube put clips of the Passion movie to Circle and it was great--my eyes welled up. In fact everytime when it comes to the part in the song where she sings "I believe..." it makes...

In fact everytime when it comes to the part in the song where she sings "I believe..." it makes my eyes well--it's just so moving and so beautiful. This sounds silly but in all the years I've gone to church I've never felt more closer to God than from listening to certain songs on this album, Circle and Treasure most of all. I think Circle is Flyleaf's masterpiece, it's become one of my favorite songs of all artists. But getting back to the meaning--I feel it's about Jesus because of certain clues that do not pertain to the women and husband story. Like "But he gave me the right" That could only be Jesus giving us the right to be alive--not a husband savingi you. And "New mercy's in the morning" which means we are all given mercy for what Jesus did for us. How would "new mercy's in the morning" relate to the hubby story? Plus "I left his arms empty and tied outstreatched for me until he died"--well...I don't remember in the story how her husband died but i dont remember them talking about being crucified and that's the picture I'm getting. The only line I was confused about was "his beautiful arm, bloody and cut off" How was Jesus's arm cut off? I'm curious to know what you think about that line.
Funny about the tattoos cuz the day I heard this song I wanted to get a tattoo as well as part of Arise.
Epicness-yes!
