At the begining of the song it's showing his excitement about getting attention and feeling close to someone. He doesn't care that she doesn't know his name- he just wants to feel close to someone. During the end of the song he pleads 'whisper the right name'. He's starting to realise that the the warmth he felt earlier is dying as they just become two strangers again. He longs for the closeness to carry on. 'Keep yourself warm seems to carry on from this. He has realised that as soon as these meaningless 'fucks' are over, you go back to being just as lonely as you were before. Everyone who has had a one night stand will probably know the feeling.

at the end of the song when he says "the twist is that you're just like me" is him saying this girl is just like him in the sense that she wants companionship and someone to sleep next to, even if it means nothing and is just for one night. the entire song hes admitting he knows hes doing this and its not going to help him in the long run, but hes doing it for right now and so is the girl! lovely way to end the song

opps i meant to reply to the song not your message...new at using the website sorry!

Excellent interpretation (I think), but I chose the song because I thought it would be more about the 1950's dance than about a sexual twist :) The only part you didn' touch on (no pun intended) is that he doesn't like himself very much; he finds himself unattractive on the outside or inside or both. Have had just one and one half one-night stands in my life and neither was fulfilling. Can't imagine going home with someone I don't know well and having to face him the next morning. Must be a generational thing because it's so common today. Think...
